The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Huh... weird. Not sure I like the idea of them undoing Lelouch's death at the end of R2. Although the second series was hit and miss I thought the ending was a really good way to tying it all up...

I'll inevitably give it a go, anyway!
Jeez, that could have really done with some spoiler tags man, or at the very least not have been so specific. :/

Anyway I loved Code Geass but not sure if I actually want any more tbh, but I'd still watch regardless.

Yeah, unsure if want. I enjoyed Code Geass as the anime equivalent of a ridiculous page turner, but I thought it had started to lose steam even before R2 kicked in. Not to say I'm uninterested in Akito the Exiled, if that was to be made streamable somewhere.

Yikes, sorry about the spoiler. I was just typing my immediate thoughts upon reading the news and, caught up in the news, didn't think about the fact that not everyone has seen the series, even given the length of time its been out and its popularity. It was a silly mistake to make, especially for someone who is a Staff member here.

It's a shame that the Rumbling Hearts OVAs never made it out of Japan too (there are three in total iirc, which gives the series an alternate ending).

Along with that and Akane Maniax, but that's Funimation for you

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Revival announced. Third series, 3 compilation movies.

I'm lucky I just picked up the series. Was just reading on Sankaku that they had a special event marking the 10th anniversary including some very nice mech figures

It's not anime, it's manime!

In non-Cobra related news, Gainax apparently have some new Panty and Stocking content on the table, although they've yet to reveal exactly what form it will take (other than that it isn't pachinko or some kind of social media gaming nonsense) :

This is gainax, they of the bad ending. I wouldn't trust it not to be a social pachinko game.

Looking forward to more BBB. Hopefully the change in director/writer doesn't hurt the quality. :)
Is the writer changing too? Given how much original material there was and the way it ended, I'm far more concerned about a change in writer than director.

It was far too random for me, plus the chess episode was probably one of the worst things I've ever watched and I've seen Killer clowns from outer space

If that chess episode is even remotely bad, you must be incredibly sheltered.

Don't worry, I have a copy of Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie I can lend you. (God that was a mistake, but I do own 1 of only 500 BDs ever produced so I can't rid myself of it.)

by Bad is should have said boring,( I will admit though that I am enjoying Stray Dogs this season)

Then this is going to be a flipping disaster. The series ended with the implication that original character William McBeth was joining Libra how is that even going to work?

I wouldn't be surprised if they just go anime original for the whole thing. If I remember correctly there isn't much of the manga around, without considering the sequal, to adapt anyway so it's quite unlikely it's going to be following the manga.

I enjoyed BBB, as my review of it for the site will tell you. Great series to sit back and watch with a smile, even if it wasn't high on the plot. Glad to hear of more.

That's weird as I thought the chess episode was probably the best one of the bunch.

I have really mixed feelings about BBB. I think stylistically and production wise it's fantastic, and some of the action scenes are ridiculously well animated for a TV anime. But equally, I think narratively it's hard to follow and I think it kind of benefitted from airing in a relatively weak season too, so a lot of people latched onto it.
