The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I personally think that Fate/Zero is easily one of the greatest television anime of the current decade, but while Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works had absolutely stunning animation (ufotable yo) and it was easily one of my favourite series' of this year, I don't think its story and characters were as good (Rin being an exception, because she's great). Then the less said about Studio DEEN in general, the better.
Completely agree with you on this one. I'm really fond of Fate/Zero and found it to be a brilliant and beautiful show. Unlimited Blade Works matched it in the scenery porn category, but I don't think it held up at all in any others. I've watched (and can easily rewatch) Zero multiple times, but I struggled to get to episode 3 of UBW on a rewatch. That could be down to the English dub though (for UBW), which is painful for the most part.

No Game No Life has been pushed back. Again.
It's getting to a point now where you can't help but wonder whether Future Diary or NGNL will come out first.

Given that the anime adaptation of NGNL was announced around the same time as Mirai Nikki was originally due out, though, it's not really a fair comparison...
I was actually referring to both NGNL and Future Diary's numerous delays...

Assassination Classroom's second season is being widely reported as 25 episodes long, which is weird as it airs on Fuji TV who almost always work in multiples of 11...

Speaking of AssClass, I wonder why it isn't streaming? AL are normally very good at sorting streaming out.

Fakku (Hentai manga distributor) will soon launch a Kickstarter for Maeda's Urotsukidoji manga.

Well this will certainly be interesting.

Fakku have confirmed that the kickstarter will be a remastered edition of Toshio Maeda's Urotsukidoji (Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend) manga in English. Plans to release the series digitally and/or physically is currently unknown.

"The campaign will be the first part of a collaboration between Fakku and Maeda to publish the latter's entire collection of hentai manga in English. The remastered edition of Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend will include new chapters that were originally cut from previous English versions of the manga. Other manga included in the project include: La Blue Girl, Demon Beast Invasion, and Adventure Kid. Fakku will post more details soon."

How do they intend to get round Kickstarer's prohibition on "Pornographic material"?

That question was asked on the Fakku website with this response:

"In general Toshio's books are not pornographic for the sake of pornography (this is the important difference), rather they are adult stories with sex scenes. You may be familiar with a few of his works as most of them have also been turned into anime over the years, Urotsukidōji actually has a few anime adaptations."

I think that's a ropey argument. Especially given one of the La Blue Girl OVAs got rejected by the BBFC outright, and Kickstarter also prohibits "Offensive material (e.g., hate speech, encouraging violence against others, etc)".

If it got rejected by the BBFC in 1996 and is borderline pornographic (which Fakku sort of admit in that quote), it probably qualifies as offensive material.

There's a new Fate/Stay Night meme that's starting to go around.

It involves Sakura's H-scene in the visual novel and it goes like this (Not NSFW, trust me):

Logistics aside, I'm a bit surprised there's still sufficient interest in Urotsukidoji to make it worthwhile. I know it has its champions, but I've rarely seen it mentioned in recent years, even compared to Manga's other 'video nasties' from their early days.

I'm pretty sure they put out quite a bit.
