The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I feel it's a sign of something when of the five front-running Sugoi Japan anime titles all have been licensed in the US and only one has been picked up here :(

Psycho-Pass? I wouldn't mind the choice if we were in 2013, but season two was really underwhelming.

I like Nozaki-kun, but didn't it finish airing over a year ago? Not sure how it can be eligible for that award.

I hope MVM can get the Nozaki CE. I really want to get it.

No Fate WTF.

Weren't a lot of people disappointed with UBW? Pretty sure I saw some hefty backlash on Reddit.

UBW is shortlisted, it's just not currently in the top five. Also F/Z was miles better! *runs*

It's not a standard calendar year they're using, it's July 2014 to July 2015. It suffers from time drift like our character battles :D

Sadly a UK Nozaki-kun license will come too late for me. If they can't announce a show before the US preorders are up, I'm lost as a customer - and the prospect of a CE was too sweet to pass by.

Yeah, Fate was subject to a lot of debate.

If I had my way, I'd have swapped something (not sure what) for My Hero Academia in the manga category (Edit: Inuyashiki would also have been a great shout), but overall it looks like an interesting list. Still have to check out Shirobako at some point though...

They didn't place hard dates on the range of titles they chose to put up for voting, it was more like... guidelines.

You can see which titles are in the vote here:

http://sugoi-japan.jp/en/nominees/anime.html

edit: changed links to English pages, but you can actually vote if you go through the JP pages.

Thinking about it, have any Pony Canyon USA titles been licensed for release in the United Kingdom? Yuki Yuna Is A Hero was mysteriously added to Netflix recently and a number of their titles are available on Crunchyroll, but I can't recall anything on home video.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Animatsu pick up Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun and Shirobako (although I'm hoping for a fancy Anime Limited release of the latter), while I think Your Lie In April will likely go to Anime Limited or maybe even MVM.

EDIT: I'm actually really surprised that Miss Hokusai currently isn't in the Top 5 list for anime.

Ah. That probably explains it. I'd like to know where Parasyte ended up. Probably one of my favourites in the past year.

Completely what you said. I think someone mentioned that Sentai were going to do smaller print runs, so I don't think I could wait for news of the preorder period opens up. Such a pretty set.

Not to worry the Psycho Pass award I'm pretty sure is for the film.

You're probably right.

Thanks for the info ilmaestro. I wonder if Cinderella Girls could even get a home release. (would love to see my favourite girl on BD)

Oh sorry, are people not allowed opinions of their own then? My bad.

Yes, but Im the only who likes UBW it seems so I shall state that fact. Yes I was sounding arrogant and like opinion was the only correct one, i apologise all are valid and equal.
