The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Liking the subtle hints. I already have the BDs for Index and I'll be purchasing the Railgun ones too, but I'd certainly double dip on a collectors/ultimate edition. I really love the Raildex LN artwork, so I'd love to see a nice artbook & artbox.
I'd probably double dip on a Lain BD assuming it's got better video than Funi's release too.

Since we're talking about Geneon, I recently started watching Ergo Proxy and I'd definitely be down for a BD release of that. That said, I'm insure how many other people would.

Count me in. Just need to find another 1000 people now :p

For the longest time now I've been wanting to import FUNimation's releases of Index and Railgun, but the only thing that's stopped me has been my financial situation. If a UK release was announced though, I'd buy it Day 1.
Admittedly, the ship has already sailed on Shana - I just need to pick up FUNimation's last half of season 3 and I'm done with that one.

Basically don't nag MVM with regards to titles like A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Higurashi, Serial Experiments Lain, Shakugan no Shana & Tenchi Muyo!

All interesting titles to be brought up...he says in passing.

I'd definitely like to think that you guys had nabbed Lain... It feels like too important of a show to be left OOP for much longer.

I would love an Ergo Proxy BD release, too!

I would like to see a domestic or US release of Ergo Proxy on Blu-ray.

Make that 999  I would bloody love Ergo Proxy on BD, when MVM were talking about going into their back catalog I hoped this would be one they choose but knew realistically it wasn't gonna happen.

Would love Lain to get a BD too.

From ANN:
The new issues of Neo and MyM magazine report the following:

Q4 will see Terror in Resonance (Blu-ray, DVD), along with a Blu-ray 'Ultimate Edition' release of Vision of Escaflowne (pictured left); this will follow the lines of the Gurren Lagaan Ultimate Edition.

Andrew Partridge of Anime Limited also referred in Neo to 'a yet to be announced film that's out of the usual and a shorts series that blew us away online.'

MVM
MVM will release tsuritama (pictured right) as a complete DVD collection in March. ef: a tale of memories and ef: a tale of melodies will appear as a single set on March 9.

No Game, No Life will be on both DVD and Blu-ray.

"...and a shorts series that blew us away online"

I wonder what this could be. The only current shorts series I'm enjoying are those from the Animator Expo.

What a coincidence really - that's the same for me ;).

Well that would be awesome but I doubt Studio Khara would allow anyone to touch it for a while, after all one of them is directly set after Evangelion: 3.0 which has yet to be seen in English due to the re-dub and re-subtitling.

Anime Limited's release slate is looking pretty strong for next year. Personally I'm probably looking forward to Tiger & Bunny: The Rising the most. Any idea roughly when Space Dandy 2 will see a release?
What's the release format for Samurai Flamenco looking like? I dropped it halfway through and I have little interest in purchasing it due to how ridiculously stupid it was, although I'm interested to hear how many sets it'll be as Aniplex have yet to say anything about it.

It's unsurprising to see that there's still no news from Manga regarding much next year. Maybe they are well and truly dead. Their twitter feed for the last week has been pretty dead too.

If I were in talks, which I can't confirm or deny of course, hypothetically not all the shorts would be available I am sure. There's one featuring just Gundam keyframes before by Itano-san x Anno-san which I doubt would be OK'd either. The original stories so far are the ones I love though esp as they're all different styles:

Dragon Dentist, Hill Climb Girl, Me!Me!Me! & Carnage so far (need to catch up on the latest two) are all high quality and creatively very challenging given they all run at 5-6 mins each max yet convey a narrative in each case.

In short - even with some removed, I really would love to do this as they really captivated me.

Space Dandy Season 2 will be May if I get my way, hinges on French dub schedule as I am good to go on S2 of Dandy now really.

Samurai Flamenco - unless they have changed their minds - I have planned for 2 parts at £39.99 but depends on final approval so I expect push-back on the price point esp for BD but we'll see...

I have a few more surprises up my sleeves yet too ;). I've set myself a Bucket List for acquisition & release in 2015 - if I get even 1 of the 3 on my top table I'll be happy. Anymore than that and I shall be over the moon...mix of new and old on that list too.

Wow, that's a massive set for the next few months from AL. That basically pumps through most of their current announced licenses. Excited to hear what's to come!

Could I mention Lodoss again?
