have we really seen the titles to justify that delay yet?
No, I don't think so (but I don't think they could reasonably have delayed it any longer) - I agree that (despite the incredible number of years since the 360 and PS3 launched) we moved into this console generation too quickly in the end, before creators were ready. I think Sony were scared of MS getting the jump on them like last time and being behind for five years or so again, and then MS obviously panicked once Sony came up with their accelerated release schedule.

As long Japanese gaming continues to be dominated by PuzDora and other iOS games, and also Youkai Watch and the like though, success there compared to success in the States and the EU will becoming increasingly less relevant for companies like Sony.
Speaking of Yo-Kai Watch (as Level-5 have insisted on spelling it internationally), I'm really surprised that a localisation wasn't announced at E3 (although I guess with Nintendo focusing on Fantasy Life, they already have the "Level-5 Game" box ticked). I remember hearing that the TV anime was being pitched to licensors in the US a few months back, so something's probably going on. Maybe confirmation at the end of this year for a Q2 release?
Yeah I'd be shocked if it didn't come over soon, that thing makes hot cakes look like... cold... cakes... or something...

Not really an E3 game, I guess. Probably just the kind of thing you introduce via way more mainstream coverage.

Copied over from the Sailor Moon forums. This is what they thought about the 2 episode preview of the Sailor Moon redub.

SoldierOfTheSun said:
Guys, I just had a super long day at anime expo but wanted to share a few scattered thoughts after seeing the first two episodes of this new dub at the viz panel.

Overall I thought it was a very good adaptation, if not always a direct translation. For instance in episode 2 when Umino flips up Haruna's skirt, instead of yelling "Now no one will marry me!" (a moment I have always found strangely hilarious) she yells, "I'll never live this down!"

Shingo's voice sounded WAY too mature for a 10 year old boy. At least to my ears. Not sure what inspired Viz to cast an older male instead of woman or young boy actor.

Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru sounds *perfect* although I felt a tinge of fan guilt with Toby Proctor sitting just a few rows away with the rest of the original dub cast in the same room.

Usagi herself was fine. No real complaints from what I thought to be a very competent if overly cutesy performance. Tracey Moore will always be my number one though!

The rest of the cast all sounded spot on or at least very good. Luna took the most getting used to for me as she sounds nothing like either Jill Frappier from the 90's dub or our beloved original seiyuu Keiko Han.

I will reflect and share some more after I've had a bit of rest this evening!

Someone else who saw it put their opinion up.

I posted a wall of text about my amazing day with a couple pics. Those who want to see it can go here. http://sailormoonforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... 20#p735720

Those who want to get straight to the dub review, I'll copy it here.

Note: First they showed us 2 on accident, then found there was something wrong with episode 1 so they showed us 2 and Sailor Moon Crystal while someone ran to get the timestamped version of episode 1. The panel ran out of time after Morga's death but we got to see most of the episode.

As for episode 2, the opening is perfectly intact, even showing the unfinished early version from the first few episodes, which ADV never screened. (Likewise the prototype ending sequence) Both the episode preview and Usagi’s self-introduction were included. Here’s the weird thing: When they first started showing episode 2 (then caught themselves that it was episode 2) Usagi says “I’ll punish you!” When they tried to get 1 and failed, then showed 2 again, she said “You will be punished!” I think one of these may be a beta version but there’s no telling which. Also of note, the second episode was read as “punishment awaits!” They did not show the next episode preview at the end of 2, but I think they merely stopped it for panel time. No surprise that “Senshi” is dubbed as “Guardian.” The timestamped version of episode 1 did not have an opening sequence but there’s no reason to think it won’t be on the set.

Now let me just say… it’s good. Usagi is adorable and hilarious, and she can call her transformations and attacks with might. The first couple episodes don’t really show off Usagi’s dramatic side, so we have yet to hear that, but I have faith in Sheh. Some might think Todd Haberkorn was an odd choice for Jadeite, but those who have seen him in Sword Art Online will understand. He’s an excellent Jadeite. Queen Beryl is really good too. Subtle. Nothing like the delightfully crazy Naz Edwards. Ikuko, Motoki, Naru, and Haruna all sounded good without particularly standing out. (No, Naru did not have an accent.) Benjamin Diskin as Umino was interesting. I think he’ll be polarizing. He’s undeniably funny and really expressive, (especially during his evil scenes) but it’s definitely a comical take, and some of the fans who like to imagine Umino being handsome behind the glasses might not take to him. Then again, maybe he’ll calm it down for Umino’s emotional scenes. Michelle Ruff as Luna sounds pretty much the same as her other roles. It’ll take some getting used to because it’s so very different from every other Luna, but I think we’ll grow to love her. My favorite part was where she was yelling “Fight back!” Mamoru’s voice sounds a bit similar to some of the old takes but without the overblown surfer persona. I’ll need to hear more of him, it was hard to get a good taste through all the screaming fans, but I think he’ll be good.

Morga was good, Baum had a very pretty voice. They gave her a slight gypsy accent, which I thought worked but some may not like. Another user noted that Haruna cries “I’ll never live this down!” rather than “Now no one will marry me!” I miss the original line but, it was very very Japanese.

Now onto the quips. The scenes of crowd wallah sounded kind of lame (the scene where the Beryl asks the Dark Kingdom Youma whether they’ve succeeded in gathering energy and they answer “NOO!” was sort of narm…) It might be that they were not final versions though. The Youma’s death screams weren’t quite up to my standard, but they are small roles. Unfortunately, I share some of the other trepidations about Shingo. (Who I was cosplaying at the time. :p ) I’m not sure why they didn’t cast a woman in the role. I’m hoping he’ll surprise us in his focus episodes but I’m bracing myself.

On the whole, the acting was expressive, and the script is liberal while still being faithful. An example is when Morga said “am I supposed to be afraid of these ridiculous catchphrases?!” The performances are full of energy and I am really happy with what was shown. I’m really looking forward to the sets.

Bonus note: The marketer (I talked to her so much I’m sad I can’t remember her name) was very intent on saying the official terms, I caught her correcting herself to ‘Sailor Guardian’ from ‘Sailor Soldier.’ And at the end of my interview, and also when asking cosplayers to pose for photos, she asked us to say “In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!” The episodes said “you will be punished” but this *might* suggest they’ll be changing it to “I’ll punish you.” Not confirmed, however.

You know what, I think I'll just put these in their own thread.

While I'm fine with the dub cast, I'm still trying to get my head round Steh and Higgins being cast as Usagi and Ami respectively. Though that might have less to do with their abilities and more to do with me remembering the last show I watched that had them together.

Conan? Negative? You must not have seen him singing the praises of Dog Days in a thread the other day.
I believe I saw him say something positive about Sakurasou once also.

Isn't this out of the blue. First a sports anime, now an idol anime.

Funimation acquired Shonen Hollywood
Not quite out of the blue - when Crunchyroll announced their regions (which didn't include the US and other English territories) it was looking like a distinct possiblity.

Looks like Manga will have to start authoring their ownFairy Tail and Hetalia DVDs down the line. Australia are releasing them as NTSC from now on apparently...
Don't take it as read - their site has been wrong before and there's the weird thing where vols 9 and 11 are shows as NTSC while 10 is down as PAL.

I think they have overestimated how much effort I am willing to put into visiting their site.
I've been getting that for a long, long time - one if the reasons I barely visit there any more. And I'm a moderator.

lol, nice work Funi.

Well it seems like they've cut back on it a little, I'm sure it used to be 2 things to enter rather than one. I did leave feedback last time pointing out how annoying it was though :)

"Would you like to leave feedback?"

"To progress to the feedback screen we'll just have to confirm you are human..."

It's a very weird system to be honest, normally you have it on signup screen to prevent bots joining and spamming you to hell.

Is it perhaps to stop bots streaming all their free stuff and sucking up a ton of bandwidth? In which case it should surely be put further into the website design so to not put people off that just want to browse.

Spare the rod, get the s'ty moe show.

Terrible moe shows which fit your personal preferences are ok though, right?

I feel it's best I say this in public: please tone your rudeness down or I'm going to have to start deleting things. There are ways to express feelings without resorting to poorly masked expletives or pushing the 'inciting flames' rule to the limits of the other forum users' patience.

Looks like the Funimation Exclusive set of Attack on Titan can be bought on RACS. Question is whether they ship to the UK/Europe. It also makes me wonder whether UP1 and Rightstuf can get the set since it kind of suggests that it flopped on Funimation's site.

UPDATE -

Manga UK won't license the Extended Edition of Psycho Pass:
@MangaUK Any interest from you guys in picking up the newly announced Psycho Pass Extended Edition of Season 1?

Manga Entertainment I don't double dip.

Fairy Tail: Phoenix Priestess is available on Amazon Instant:
@MangaUK Why does amazon instant video have the fairy tail movie?

Manga Entertainment Because we put it on there.

No plans on Squid Girl Season 2:
Hey @MangaUK , you lot released Season 1 of Squid Girl, any plans for the second season yet?

Manga Entertainment No. Sorry.

Fairy Tail's a so-so in terms of sales:
@MangaUK Is Fairy Tale a big hit in the UK?

Manga Entertainment So-so.

UPDATE 2 -

Funimation is aware that everyone wants the artbox with LE Part 2 of Attack on Titan and may do something about it:
"We'll bring it up as a suggestion. We know a lot of fans are asking for it, so we'll see what we can do. "

Unless someone in the US picks it up and dubs it I guess we'll never get it

Gives me an excuse to post a link to this picture http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/1039013, not my collection, I just spotted it a few days ago and thought how popular Squid Girl must be to have that many figures.

Oh wow (those figurines). Stupid Media Blasters (they need to stop distributing anime and let their licenses go, they've done enough damage as it is).

I guess Sentai Filmworks would be the only licensor suitable to handle Squid Girl if Season 2 is still free to grab (they could pull a K-On! and get Season 1 later on).

Thankfully both seasons and even the OVAs are available on Crunchyroll.

I figured it would be interesting to post the Blu-ray/DVD sales figures for anime in Japan, here's the results between June 30th-July 6th.

I really enjoyed Kawaisou so it's a shame to see that it's not doing that great. I'm very much on the edge about importing it myself despite the lack of subs.
Can someone please explain why Love Live 2 is still selling shitloads? I don't get it, especially for what that show is.
