I remember some mention of Samurai Flamenco being Blu-ray only. Could that be the mystery series?

Andrew confirmed in an interview with UKAN that it's coming to Blu-ray but it depends on whether Aniplex of America decides to give it an English dub or not. If AoA end up releasing it DVD only but we get a Blu-ray release then I'm happy to pick up the UK version (I enjoyed the show a lot, despite it's strangeness).

Also, they announced that they had the home rights back when they announced the show (same with Kill la Kill, Space Dandy and Terror on Resonance).

Got an Email from Base.com saying Attack on Titan Part 2 Blu-Ray (not sure about the DVD) is now due out 27th October.

Just checked, the DVD is also due 27th October.

While looking at the Facebook pages for the distributors (sometimes there's some interesting news), someone asked about the Madoka movies and Manga UK responded with this:

Replace "Frodo and Sam" with "The Madoka Magica Movies". ;-D YouTube video

We are recording a new podcast next week with Andrew, Jeremy, Jerome and Jonathan. It's been so busy ever since MCM Comic Con London at the end of May!

So I take it that means a no-go for a UK release?
Time to import the US ones then! Unless Anime Limited are interested? (Calling Andrew!!)

Anime Limited do have the French rights to the movies.

If I remember correctly, MangaUK once said that they're only interested in Rebellion, but Aniplex won't give it to them separately - only with Beginnings and Eternal.

If that's the case I hope Anime Limited manage to get the rights to the movies, the US release is way out of my price range.

I do have to wonder how things are done when it comes to AllTheAnime licenses, and maybe Andrew can answer this if he's still around.
Does Andrew handle all the licenses for both territories or does @Anime have their own team who seek out French licenses only?
If it's the former, do they tend to look at licensing for both UK and France for titles rather than one over the other?

I manage both by and large - and it really depends! I like both if we can but it doesn't stop me going for one territory or another - for example would have been crazy to NOT take Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online 2 in France...alas not an option for me in the UK though!

Haha! Well, in that case, I look forward to adding it to my collection.

I'd look forward to December then ;).

Andrew
So, to 110% cement it in, that means Anime Limited is releasing Giovanni's Island in December?

Nothing is ever in stone until you get the press release - butttt given the schedule for that dub and a neat run of festivals in autumn...

I hope Sentai Filmworks have asked the Japanese for the actual 1080p masters and are re-authoring Bodacious Space Pirates to 1080p, and if that's the case I hope MVM will delay their BD release for Bodacious Space Pirates and release the superior new BDs. I don't mind seeing the complete collection delayed to December or so.
If they are using Hanabee discs, well they released a complete collection in March so I doubt they will be re-releasing it any time soon.

- It kind of surprises me nobody acquired Kill Me Baby for UK (Blu-ray) release yet. Hope somebody will actually do this.
Wasn't that the one that sold so badly in Japan they made a custom twitter avatar for every buyer?

The same counts for Sentai/Hanabee and MVM. Sentai has picked up US, UK and AU rights to a lot of their 2013 and 2014 releases.
The only confirmed sub-license from Sentai I've ever seen was Angel Beats, although Night Raid is a given since it's been on The Anime Network UK forever and likewise for Loki Ragnarok.
Other than that and Manga saying they "think" Sentai has Little Busters in the UK, I can't remember or find anything else.

The initial series averaged slightly under 1k sales which is bad but there are plenty that do worse. The series went viral, though, and the boxset ranked with sales of almost 5k copies - about the same number as Clannad's boxset.

Just two quick questions then. Seeing as you have the rights to SAO:Extra Edition in France, is there any chance you or anyone else would be bringing it over here? I'm gonna guess that part of it is down to what AniplexUSA chooses to do with it, but I can't really see them giving it a dub and/or physical release - at least not anytime soon.

My other question is did you ever get around to looking at/get anywhere with Index or Railgun? I'd assume that'd work well as a UK/FR license seeing as it appears to be somewhat popular. It seems to sell relatively well in France based on the fact that they have both the Manga, and soon the Light Novels being released there.
I'm also interested to hear whether it's fallen into your too difficult pile too :D

I wonder if Jeremy is floating about, because that sounds tasty.

To which I say "Play the game, wimp"

And that doesn't mean making a mess of it and then whinging about it on whatever social network you want to unload your nonsese into that given day.

How one quickly forgets how AoT is being farted out and how much they arsed up SAO's extras.

I'll give you the second one, but we haven't even seen a physical copy of Manga's AoT release yet. Calm down.

Admittedly, I have yet to buy MangaUK's Sword Art Online release because I'm waiting for news on the corrected second print run of volumes 1-2. It's a series I would like to own, but yeah, waiting for the fixed version.
