The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Wait. 4 episodes and it's also out in July. Oh dear. But for $59.98 (£35.87) it's cheaper than the individual Madoka sets.

It's confirmed there are five volumes for this 24 episode + 1 OVA series. So it looks there each set will have at least 4-5 episodes; 4, 5, 5, 5, 5.

I actually really liked that dub trailer, but Aniplex can bugger off if they think they can release it over FIVE volumes.

Andrew, please, please tell me that the UK release won't be over as many volumes.

I'm pretty sure he's allowed to have a minimum of 3 volumes (8, 8, 8+OVA).

Just watched the dub trailer, it sounds really good and they managed to get it nearly right, one or two needs some time to get used to (Satsuki for instance). That's a plus for me.

In case anyone didn't catch it:
Erica Mendez - Ryuuko Matoi
Carrie Keranen - Satsuki Kiryuuin

Christine Marie Cabanos - Mako

Steve Cannon - Inumuta
Sarah Ann Williams - Nonon
Grant George - Sanageyama
Patrick Seitz - Gamagōri

Matthew Mercer - Mikisugi
David Vincent - Senketsu

I expected as much, asked AL on Twitter if there was anything to look forward to buying between now and end of AUgust (barring re-releases) and got the following response, I dont know why I expected any good news for Q3. Looking back at January I was so excited for this year :/

We've got Cowboy Bebop on complete BD -we're working on other stuff but instead of schedules/delays, we moved some stuff round :) So expect Q4 to be nice and active ;)

I can see Daikon Brothers being pushed back to Q4, there's been no news on that and its meant to be out in June.

Looks like Q4 is going to be a busy one :/ There's a lot announced for that time already, adding a ton of A/L stuff to it as well ...

Looking at their new years post, they said they have:

- 10 TV series, mix of new and classics.

- 7 films

For TV, that would take Blood Lad, Kill La Kill, Terror In Resonance (maybe, I don't think they had the rights to it when posting) & Full Metal Panic out which would either leave 6,5 or 4 left to be announced, if they count all three series of FMP or not.
For Films, that would take Wings of Honneamise, Physic School Wars, Mai Mai Miracle & Tiger & Bunny: The Rising out leaving 3 left to be announced. Though they did hint to one unannounced film on social media, cannot remember the name?

Hmm..

When did they announce Patema Inverted? Because couldn't that be one of the seven as well, or was that announced last year?

Q3 is quite full for Manga releases for me. Slightly relieved by Anime Limited potentially not having anything for Q3, but does worry me from a business perspective.

Q4 I can see being rammed by AL. Every license they announced interests me.
Luckily the only currently announced Q4 Manga stuff I will be getting is Attack on Titan Part 2, Berserk Movie 3, and possibly Devil Is A Part Timer.

It was already announced by the time of them posting that info.

I wonder if AL will do their own Kill la Kill discs from scratch or just do what is basically a clone of AoA release, same as Blue Exorcist is(I believe this is correct)

I'm wondering if AoA's release will have lossless English. The first 3 Japanese volumes have two lossless tracks, one being commentary and I don't see commentary on this release. So there should be room to mux two lossless 2.0 tracks. Vol.1 of the Japanese release is 37921 kbps, Vol.2 is 34110 kbps and Vol.3 is 35268 kbps and all three have two lossless tracks.

The double sided. Does AoA give you posters rolled up or are they a Manga job and folded up and put in the case?

Garden of Sinners will be NTSC according to MVM on twitter.
Not as good as a Blu-Ray, but better than getting PAL.

Good. Everything should be NTSC (unless it's Manga UK).

That gives me some interest in picking up the DVD Box Set, unless Aniplex does another release on GoS (I know the 8 films are available with English Subtitles in Japan [the newest one isn't] but that's like £210 + possible customs charge & postage which is insane atm).

EDIT:

The Anime On Line link for Garden of Sinners is up, £59.99. This looks like a direct replica of the Aniplex USA DVD release judging by the description and the confirmation for NTSC.

They both look well cool. I'm guessing what AOL are offering for Garden Of Sinners is good? I haven't spent a lot on anime since Death Note first got released. Not on purpose either, it's just always been around the £10-25 mark what I want lol.

Looks like someone on the fandom post forums has an idea for what the bonus items could be for Volumes 2-5 of the LE:
Quick comment on bonus items. Outside of the audio commentaries, AoA is including everything on the JP copies. There were no booklets, only production material collections (storyboards, original drawings, art boards, etc), which AoA tends not to include, so AoA couldn't add a booklet to these sets. Volumes 2, 4, 6, and 8 included drama CDs, which were incredibly unlikely to come over here. V1 had the remix/rearrange CD, V3 has the first Trigger production DVD (look for this in AoA v2), V5 has OST 2 (look for this in AoA v3), V7 has the second Trigger production DVD (look for this in AoA v4), and V9 has the third Trigger production DVD (look for this in AoA v5). The only other bonus disc that may be included would be the English cast interviews that'd replace one of the Trigger production DVDs most likely and/or AoA conducting their own interviews with staff members.

The bonus discs are likely why AoA split this into 5 volumes and why other countries get 3. Just a thought for reference.

Patema Inverted, new kickstarter tier to be added tonight at 6pm. The tier is £125 and comes with the definitive edition and a one-of-a-kind giclée print signed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura. This tier is limited to 10 prints only.
