The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Well this is hilarious:

I guess we have some faith on whether it's compatible.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Should we get the US releases or UK releases.

Cause I don't know

But on the other hand I still want to support the UK ANIME industry

But

The US version cases look kool

So, Japan is getting a Blu-ray boxset for Outlaw Star and Anime Limited are interested.

I'd be very interested in this. Not buying any of AL's properties on DVD due to pretty much only buying anime on Blu-Ray nowadays, but i'd jump on this straight away. Japanese packaging looks glorious btw.

I didn't pick up Outlaw Star at Comic Con (because I was panicking due to my lost oyster card holder), but I'll probably hold back now until I hear news of a blu-ray.

How fast do you want them?

I'm going to wait just to see what the case containing part 1 is made of. Why does one pic say it's just A/1 and the other say A/B/C/1/2/4? Is one of them the outer case?

Definitely interested, but now I don't know whether to cancel my order or not.

The way I look at it is im interested in Attack on Titan but it is really a blind buy for me so i'm not willing to spnd around £40 to import the limited edition even if the packaging happens to be of my favourite type (I love digibooks).

The A/1 is on paper attached to the digibook, the other is directly on the digibook. The discs are labelled Region A.

It'll probably be between 18 months and 2 years before the West sees the Blu-ray, and the DVD is cheap enough to enjoy for a couple of years. And confidentially, between you and me, the DVD transfer is a bit of gorgeousness in itself.

I would love a UK company to pick up Index & Railgun but it'd have to be pretty amazing and blu ray to make me upgrade my US artbox versions now.

As for Haganai that was one of the titles I was hoping someone would announce at MCM, its out on blu in Australia so shouldn't be to hard to get a deal going, and if they're gonna they need to get on it ASAP I personally know 12 people that have imported and have seen a few people on this forum mention getting it. So the pool of potential sales is growing ever smaller for whoever does license it...

After watching Haganai NEXT dubbed I'm curious if the BBFC may be okay with the amount of strong sex references in the franchise (and also Kobato & Maria).

With the BBFC it's all about context

While there is some nudity in season 1&2 it's not framed in a sexual manner. When you look at the warnings the BBFC gives it's always a combination of things, sexualised violence, sexualised nudity etc. This is why strike witches was a 12, it had nudity but didn't combine it with any of the BBFC's red flag activities.

I can imagine Haganai would get flagged up on the language aspect
I'm guessing that you haven't watched Haganai NEXT yet as episode 4 is a good example of stuff the BBFC might not want to be left in like Maria looking at a naked Kodaka and commenting on his you-know-what along with what Rika does to confirm that Yukimura is a girl and Rika's smut filled mouth might also come under fire as well.

Haha.

I'll be waiting until someone has actually tested this then.

I can confirm mine has been dispatched by UP1, however I sent it to my home address (atm I'm at Uni) so I'll have to wait a day for any confirmation.

I have seen what the content looks like and it does have the A symbol on the discs so it's probably region locked. Can anyone confirm if the Kamisama Kiss discs had just the A symbol on the disc or both the A and B since that's compatible.

There aren't any Region symbols on the discs themselves for Kamisama Kiss.

Here is an image, but it's only of the DVD's... but the Blu-Ray's look identical except for the colour used.

I've seen it, I'd guess that instance would probably cause an issue or two, but not to make it un-rateable. I already said the language would probably be a bigger problem.

Kamisama Kiss just has the region A symbol on the discs. Apologies for the horrendous photograph.

random question, could kanon, shuffle or air ever get a UK release ? and who would buy it ?

If Manga's reactions to the Clannad sales are anything to go by, nope. Might be worth asking MVM and Anime Limited on facebook because I don't see Manga going for it.

You can pick up all three from UP1 for super cheap though, as long as you have a region free player :)
