The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Hmm I'm in for the Anohana movie but the TTGL set looks a little uninspiring after Andrew's version and Silver Spoon is DVD-only?! I hope the other DVD-only shows get BD upgrades soon so we can start working out how long these things take.

Anohana Movie is a definite buy for me. Had little interest in Silver Spoon before, but it's definitely not getting any attention from me as a DVD release.
TTGL Movies are a possibility depending on when they are released. I'm really loving that artwork.

More than likely skip the Madoka re-release seeing as I have the nice JP release, and the dub isn't exactly worth buying it again for.

EDIT: Two of the PVs for Fate/Stay Night have been subbed and posted on Aniplex's YT Channel.
First video pretty much recaps/covers Fate/Zero though, so spoiler warning.

Toonami have tweeted about the situation regarding Evangelion: 3.33:
News on Eva 3.33: @funimation says it's still on hold. Working "closely" with studio khara to "make it closer to original vision."

I'm guessing that the English dub was not up to Khara's needs and needed to be re-dubbed judging by the 'closer to original vision' quote.

Considering MangaUK's good relationship with Toei right now (with Dragonball and One Piece), I can see them getting Sailor Moon.
Given that means Kaze releases and Animax Streaming, I will fight this awful future for as long as I draw breath.

Maybe not. Anime Limited got Blood Lad and that is being released by Viz like Sailor Moon so that might be a channel they can exploit.

I believe Aniplex Guy @ MCM just confirmed in the Q&A that MVM have Kara No Kyoukai...
Viz Europe also have Nisekoi...

Would that mean a physical release would be a KAZE title? :|

Should be, when Aniplex of America handle their Blu-rays they usually state the region as -- which mainly means it's region free. We'll have to find out in July.

(sigh on both parts)

Yes its finally confirmed Kara no Kyoukai for the UK. Bad News? its only dvd....
Speaking to Tony he said Aniplex JP won't allow anyone to release a BD of KNK In the west, including Aniplex USA. I also know one of their other licenses but have been asked not to post it.

Tony also stated he declined Girls and Panzer twice before licensing it.

Will we know about it later in the anime panel? It is a license that you are exitced for ?
It's an obvious license. I'll say that much.

Regarding KnK. Aiming for a Christmas release. 7 movies + epilogue in a box w/booklet and art cards.
Aniplex told them they had to release it that way. SRP £80

I am now wondering what that could be! I hope we find out at the panel cause otherwise it will be on my mind forever!
It's being announced later, but honestly. Look at the titles they have and take a guess.

An obvious license? I'm afraid it is Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai, though SHAKUGAN NO SHANA FINAL seems to be overdue as well. (It has to be SNS III...)

Can I add MVM's spine as another glare? They keep using different designs for the spines for the past two years.
Those are the worst, maybe we should all agree to do an "@MVM_UK #CLEANtheSPINE"-action on one certain coordinated day.
If AUKN members would want to help achieve this, maybe I could look into setting up a time and date to do this?

Come on, MVM are the only ones with nasty spines that prevent at-least me from ordering certain anime as the spine is the part of the case I see the most I see it as something that diminishes/reduces the value of a release by great lengths when the spine has disc counts on it. And where the BBFC logo isn't needed it shouldn't be there as well.

Look, I'll say this:
> I'll definitely pre-order Familiar of Zero S1 if there's no disc count logos and BBFC logo on the spine. (Also no disc count logo on front cover, please.)
> I'm very likely to pre-order Familiar of Zero S1 if there's just no disc count logo on the spine or front cover. (And would prefer a reversible cover without BBFC logo)
> I'm less likely to pre-order Familiar of Zero S1 if the spines are as they are today. Clean reversible cover would be appreciated then but should be confirmed through social media!

And why it might be a better idea to do a "@MVM_UK #CLEANtheSPINE"-action, with tweets it's easier to "bomb" a large amount of people to request it. At least way better than just a few spread comments over a thread. All what is needed is set up a thread with details on when to do the tweetbomb and spread the thread to UK anime-fans over Twitter without mentioning MVM yet. Everybody could benefit from cleaner spines in the long term, even if none of the current upcoming releases are of any interest to you.

I also think it should be law for multiple releases in the same franchise to have matching spines *glares at MangaUK's Strike Witches DVDs and the Marvel Cinematic Universe blu-rays*.
I agree with this statement. Matching spines should be a thing.

Was that a "they do not handle them because they personally don't want to" or "they don't want to handle them as it clearly means they aren't authorised UK releases"?
That they would only sell what clearly had a BBFC rating on the cover.
Rui said:
It would have the rating on the cover though (it's required to). People just want it moved off the spine where there's actually no requirement to have it anyway in this case. It would reduce the number of clashing logos which swarm all over the covers of UK releases and make them look cheap.

Nailed it.

Taken from Kickstarter:Quick question - is there any chance of getting the rights to shows like Baccano or Samurai Champloo? Would love a Blu-ray version of them

Anime Limited: Would love to! Champloo's rights are with MVM but for Baccano...let's just say we've got a chance there ;)
Dannielle said:
Hoping one of the others is an upgraded Baccano release.
It would really surprise me if Baccano would be announced this weekend. The Manga UK website still lists it among their current licenses.
I think, given that Baccano is a 2010 release the license will be lapsing soon, so that's what Anime Ltd might be hinting at...
They might be ready to jump on it as soon as Manga's license lapses OR Manga never got the Blu-Ray rights and Anime Ltd is getting those already.

i also prefer white subs than yellow
Arguments over white and yellow subs can get almost as religious as sub vs dub.
I never have heard anybody say "I prefer yellow subs"... Or I must have missed those comments..

Don't forget he has some rescue licenses as well. So hopefully one of them is an old title that was once part of (old) Manga UK or ADV, like Royal Space Force [I'm bringing this title up a lot because all signs point to Anime Limited].
There's still some of his Beez babies out there waiting to be reclaimed.
I kinda hope Andrew will be looking at rescuing My-Hime (and My-Otome) in the long run.

Aniplex of America announcement comments
> Silver Spoon sub-only dvd-only: Not entirely sure I'd want to watch this subbed. Either way, dvd-only... That's just lame.
> AnoHana The Movie: So the series is with NISA and the movie with Aniplex... "How to make it UK distributors easy." I'm interested in watching the franchise.
> Madoka Magica movies getting dubbed: YAY.

Now, EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY: ANDREW PARTRIDGE versus JEROME MAZANDARANI.

PS: Sorry for me being abusive over the shift-key. XD

Reposting since it's at the end of the last page.

Regarding KnK. Aiming for a Christmas release. 7 movies + epilogue in a box w/booklet and art cards.
Aniplex told them they had to release it that way. SRP £80

Tony also said MVM titles will have BBFC logos on the spine as places like HMV have returned stock in the past which lacked them. Nisemonogatari pt2 was the only exception as the logo was layered behind the spine rather than on top of it, so it's not visible.
