For those who are interested though - the issues are when you end up having to use new masters that need subtitles re-timed or audio re-synched it can take a lot longer. We scheduled it sooner than was ideal and like Bebop learned a lot from it.

I just want to double check Andrew (especially after the statement Manga UK made a few weeks back), is Outlaw Star & Nerima going to be NTSC?

Yep :).

Perfect. :thumb:

I'll pre-order them two once they're close to release.

It's strange though, Manga UK downright refuses to use NTSC which risks their entire business by creating defective PAL masters (as seen with titles like Cat Planet Cuties) and causing more importation since they prefer to delay their Blu-ray releases and release them alongside their DVD counterpart.

Manga's problem seems to be something that's come down from their Starz overlords.
Manga's Problem is that it is unwilling to tell everyone (Except thier customers, ironicaly enough) No.

No, Stars, NTSC Disks will sell fine, we'll have easier acess to titles not based on the whim of Australian publishers that everyone can use (And have used since 2012 with the digital switch over) buck up and let us do our business at our optimum.

No, Aniplex, you propose to break our releases for no reason. Our release will not magicaly make Japan abandon it's bonkers market that works on the fart-created imaginations of a madman from Mars and screwing our release over will not stop any given Japanese Viewer who was going to buy the thing at our less insane price if they were really that concerned about price. Buck up and stop being insane about markets that you have no rights to be insane about.

Instead they say No, Customer, you can not have a quality release. Sorry but them's the breaks. Buck up and buy our crappy disks.

Except we can and will say "No, Manga, we have CR (and to a lesser extent fansubs), we're great, thanks)"

Not my job. Mine is to make it known as manga's customer that thier parent company is getting in the way of my buying their product.

Also, if you are so egar to tell me what to do then maybe you could head your own advice, complain to Starz and give us a field report on how it works out for you.

Reborn isn't the one who never stops complaining about anything and everything on here though.

Then why are you bending our ears here? Only Andrew frequents this place frequently, if your looking to make it clear to Manga you disprove of their business practices you'll have already made a written complaint to them to demonstrate your serious rather than an anonymous forum post?

And the sheer laziness of telling someone else to make a complaint when your unwilling to do so yourself.

So I plonked the UK release of Durarara!! into my PC to nose around the files on the disc like I usually do and noticed that there didn't seem to be a region lockout file on disc... I put the supposedly Region B locked disc in my Region free BD player set to Region A to test it and the disc plays back fine.

Like Cowboy Bebop part 1, Durarara!! is not region locked. I'm not sure if this was intentional...

Wasn't Bebop being unlocked a production error?

I have no idea what happened with Bebop to be honest.

I tried all four discs in the DRRR set and they are all region free. Another thing which is slightly odd to me yet probably nothing, is that you can bring up the pop-up menu as soon as disc playback starts, so that's not locked at any point.
I did also try Bebop part 2, Perfect Blue and Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning, but they are all Locked and can't be bypassed, so I do wonder if this 'issue' originates from Siren's discs.

The way I was hearing was the V2s of the first Bebop Boxset (which are still coming?) would be locked to A and it being unllocked was an error.

B. Not A.

But yeah, I've heard it was unintentional too, but Durarara being region free is Siren Visual's fault again.

Oh fun, Funimation isn't giving Manga an easy ride.

If you want to take that as me telling you what to do then so be it. However i'm not the one holding it against Manga for not going against their parent company.

Oooh, interesting that they're re-releasing Anohana on BD. Perfect time for MVM to potentially jump in for a co-author deal so it can get a UK release at last?
