Space Dandy getting released so fast is fantastic. i seriously can't wait for that to air now. And with Escaflowne getting a Blu-Ray collector's edition, i think i may need to throw my money at you.

So we finally get Berserk soon? I can finally dig in. I've been waiting for it for a good while now, i want to watch it via the cinema but it didn't head there, though that's fine with the content it covers. Shall sit patiently for the Blu-Ray release. I hope that it's fully uncut as well, and not the R-15 version.

I hear Escaflowne has been given some discussion regarding how it's going to be released in terms of its representation. For instance the folks in Fandom Post are saying that the original english release was cut and whether or not the re-release from Anime Limited and Funimation would be the full uncut version.

As for Berserk, it's rare to see anime cut in the US nowadays so I wouldn't worry about that. You should worry more about the UK release, still I had no idea how the first two got away with a 15.

I do wonder if the BBFC will even give HighSchool DxD a certificate, or whether Asia and Koneko will push it into the "Dangerous publications" box.

I would be very surprised if it didn't get rated uncut. I am pretty certain that Manga know what the rules are when it comes to the BBFC & wouldn't license a show if they didn't think it would get rated as it would be just be them throwing their money away otherwise. If titles like the recent Hellsing Ultimate episodes can get through uncut then I would think something like DXD would as well. Mind you I suppose you might be thinking of the Ikki Tousen OVA that they had to drop because of the BBFC.

I would imagine it'll get through without too much trouble, it's the US which seems to have more of an issue with sexual content than the UK, at least in terms of games(check Ryse and Beyond, nudity/sexual content was kept while violence toned down for the UK). However considering the content in film 3, it will be a hard one to see. If it was to be cut, i'd probably import purely because i want the full experience. Saying that, the manga is uneditted, so it's still a possibility. Regardless, we'll see what Manga/Kaze say closer to the time.

As for Escaflowne, my main concern this time is the subtitles. in the final 10-15 minutes of the final episode, the subs are missing. I was able to follow it either way but it was frustrating. I would imagine this will be rectified for this release, and hopefully it's uncut too.

The Vision of Escaflowne when it aired on Fox Kids was cut and was simply titled "Escaflowne" featuring music changed, altering the tone, and a re-juggle of scenes to make it look like Van was the main character. It only aired on the US Fox Kids for 10 episodes before being cancelled due to low ratings, but aired in it's entirety in the UK and is how I grew to love the show. It also had this nostalgic one word theme song.

However what stopped it falling to the same fate as Nelvana's "Cardcaptors" was it was either rerecorded uncut or that's how it was recorded in the first place before Fox chopped it up. This uncut version is what was on Bandai's complete release and is probably what will be on ours.

Still this is a Collector's edition. Maybe both the cut and uncut dub will be on it.

Fafner will be returning in Fall 2014 with Sōkyū no Fafner: Dead Agressor: Exodus (Fafner: Dead Aggressor: -EXODUS-), a two course season (26 episodes) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series which reunites the main team who worked on the first season. The second season will be set after the movie Sōkyū no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth (Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth).

Rosario + Vampire II manga will be ending its run in February 2014. The series is a sequel to the manga version of Rosario + Vampire.

IIRC correctly it's not that Escaflowne was cut, it was that there was a slightly longer special-edition style release of some of the episodes in Japan. We got the original Japanese TV broadcast version, but Japan got a slightly longer "home video" version. We don't know what has been licensed at this stage, but it would likely be very difficult to match the R1 dub of the tv versions with the slightly longer version.

Not that there was much wrong with Escaflowne TV - seeing nth generation fansubs was my first encounter with the world outside Battle of the Planets/Robotech/Laputa/Akira, and my first encounter with Yoka Kanno's music.

Wouldn't surprise me if we saw a season 3 manga to be honest, depending on how things end and if the series is popular enough. I got the distinct impression the plan was all along to do a bunch of '10 volume' series but the storyline of 2 has overrun by quite a margin.

Grrr, looks like Viz could be the licensor for KyoAni's Free.

Apart from Full Metal Panic, all of KyoAni's stuff should stick with Sentai.
>Good, if not passable dub
>Good video quality
>Good nonmassiveyellow subtitles
>Might get the K treatment
>Cheaper than Sentai releases

How is this bad in any way? (Except english OP/ED credits)

I guess it's not that bad, I don't have a Viz title so I can't witness these examples.
I have Accel World, Berserk and Tiger & Bunny.
All three releases have good quality video (Better than Funi/Sentai - I didn't spot anything at all to comment on whilst watching Accel World), good dubs and were cheaper than other releases.
The only thing they lacked were Song/Signs subtitle tracks, but Viz are finally going to start doing those now.

Sounds great, wasn't Tiger & Bunny 1080i?

No one told me that Mayo Chiki had an English dub. Also, so do Maria Holic, Maria Holic Alive, Nyankoi! and Special A.

It didn't, must be a sneaky announcement.

Blu-ray version confirmed:

1080p. Nura and Lagrange Season 1 were 1080i. They seem to be emphasizing that Lagrange season 2 is 1080p, but I just don't care as I'll probably never watch the first season now.
They also hardsubbed certain things in Lagrange.

Sweet, gimme a Bluray and Mayo Chiki will finally become purchasable.
Now if only they do a Dual Audio BD for Ano Natsu de Matteru...

EDIT: Update

Mayo Chiki! Complete Collection (Offer Expires 2/28/2015) - NOTE, this title isn't expected until August 2015,
Wut, tell me that's a typo.

Is Mayo Chiki really worth the BD treatment? As much as I loved that show...
At least the subtitles will be correctly in sync with the audio, unlike the DVD release from MVM (which is more the fault of the Australian distributor).

And the Nyan Koi dubbed version came out a few weeks ago (even though it's official release was this week).

Seems like anything that sold well as a sub only DvD is going to get the dub BD treatment. I for one will happily pick up a few of these again for the BD jump :)
