The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I remember Nerima Daikon Brothers getting a lot of acclaim back when it was first released. I did want to check it out but I never did get round to it. Plus it's a Nabeshin show!

I enjoyed Nerima Daikon Brothers very much. The humour is referential (often with regards to politics and culture) but I expect it's also fun even if you're just watching it for the music. I only ever watched it in Japanese.

Since I already have it this is a less exciting license (I already have Durarara twice over too ^^; ) but it's good to see another fun show in their catalogue.

There's a kickstarter going on for a company called Manga Reborn who plan to localise and translate manga for the English territories. The project is hosted by Kumagai Naotaka from Tokyo, Japan.

The following 10 mangas that they have planned are as follows:
Black Angels by Shinji Hiramatsu
158 chapters
Dokkouren by Ikki Matsuda
182 chapters
Hisoka Returns! by Ken Yagami
61 chapters
HIURI by Akira Himekawa
25 chapters
Low Teen Blues by Akira Mochizuki
9 chapters
Metal Back by Tsuguo Okazaki
15 chapters
New Give My Regards to Black Jack by Shuho Sato
70 chapters
Shagara by Kiyoshi Haraguchi
43 chapters
Someone Comes to Kill Me by Kyoko Kamishiro
6 chapters
The Raving Warrior: Suima-kun by Katsumi Nakagawa
22 chapters

At this moment there are 47 backers with $1,158 out of $6,000 with 53 days to go. Looks like their dream may come true.

There's also another kickstarter to create a fan film sequel to Princess Mononoke.

Also, fans of Makoto Shinkai will be pleased to hear that his short film Dareka No Manazashi is now available on YouTube, baring in mind it's not subbed in English yet.

Fun fact: Tokyo is hosting the 2020 Olympics and surprisingly enough was said the same in Akira.

Fill still for live action Kite, still planned to be released 'soon'

Looks like Bebop Complete Collection & Part 2 of the BD have been pushed back to December 30th if Amazon are anything to go by :

- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cowboy-Bebop-Co ... wboy+bebop
- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cowboy-Bebop-Co ... wboy+bebop

My guess is that they are making some final touches to avoid the exact same problem that Part 1 had.

Plus, there are people including myself waiting for the second print-run that fixes all the problems Part 1 had which takes time, so moving Part 2 is good but I don't see why they're moving the DVD version.

Huh, wonder what the issue is? Perhaps they're double checking for QC issues, or adding in proper chapter stops. If that's the case, I'm happy to wait.

EDIT: Aha, it's a placeholder, though it has been moved:

It's not actually December 30th - should be sooner than that it was just shifted for safety! We'll update later this week with actual dates but it definitely isn't that far off.

Delay explained

A few folks have messaged us as the date for Cowboy Bebop BD Part 2 and DVD Complete Collection had changed on Amazon - this is a temporary date set because we had to shift the release date a few weeks due to finding another video capture glitch we wanted to fix.

We'll actually have the final masters no later than next week so expect a release actually in October - so a couple of weeks delay max to bring you the best quality product. Not December!

Lynn Okamoto's Brynhildr in the Darkness is being adapted as an anime, Lynn's most notable work is Elfen Lied. "The series follows a highschool guy who meets the doppelganger of a childhood friend who dying while proving the existence of aliens to him." Sounds like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Kaze, I know certain sectors of anime fandom give you stick for your release quality, but please bring this to the UK. I'll buy it at least, hmm, one time!

A few problems:
- It's already been licensed by MVM and while they are planning on bringing some of their titles from their back catalogue onto Blu-ray, they can't handle the cost (the reason Broken Blade, Kids on the Slope, Monogatari [Bake & Nise] & Patlabor OVA got the treatment was because Madman/Hanabee cooperated together with them, hence if you look at the Australian BD discs they also show the BBFC logo).
- The BBFC wasn't happy with the show and was left cut.
- Kaze is out of the radar in terms of communication (it's not confirmed that they're stopped supporting the UK).

Heh, most of Penguindrum is rated 12, but there's enough on disc 1 of part 2 of Penguindrum to get an 18 for "strong sexual threat". I flicked through the Random Curiosity entries for the episodes in question (I'm guessing it's eps 14 and 15) and it seemed a bit errr...interesting. I'm not that surprised, just amused that everything else is still a 12
