A boatload of news

Thanks NormanicGrav for posting all these news in the past days! Keep going please!

Teo

Not sure whether that was sarcasm, but the reason why I have posted a lot is due to my long holiday of doing absolutely nothing from my last school exam in June to my first day in University in late September.

tl;dr I was bored + found news + post it on here = something to do!

Speaking of something to do, Sentai's latest boom of teasing is Gatchaman Crowds..

- Red Garden [Episodes 1-6, Additional Material] (12) - Contains infrequent strong language and moderate bloody violence and threat

Odd that Lupin's content is described as strong yet gets a 15, whereas Nisemonogatarl gets an 18 for the same type of content, yet it is not described as strong. Rating seems at odds with the description.

Nisemonogatari is slightly worse by which it goes to the next level for fanservice from what I hear, for example the statement "strong references to sex and incest" may refer to as what's known as Toothbrush Porn.

Regarding Lupin III: WCFM, I think it's mainly due to the age of the characters since Fujiko is older than the characters in Nisemonogatari.

Zero sarcasm, I was serious. You put time in looking for news, then post them here, so it's quick and easy for us to get them.. I appreciate your efforts.

Why thank you :thumb:

For those who have noticed FLCL being re-released on Blu-ray I found this interesting comment from MVM:
Question:
any hope of you guys bringing out the Berserk TV series on Blu Ray? The Transfer is beautiful.

MVM:
We'd love nothing more than to get our entire back catalogue on BD, but it sadly comes down to costs, whether the license is even available for BD, sales etc. We're certainly not turning away from it and are hoping to release more BD both old and new in 2014.
One of the most wanted titles on Blu-ray was Samurai Champloo and since it's also released in Australia on Blu-ray as a complete series, chances of MVM bring that here is quite possible.
Other possible titles include .hack//Quantum, Another (though it's cancelled, they might be able to co-operate again in the future), Bodacious Space Pirates, ef series, Inu X Boku SS, Shakugan no Shana series and Trinity Blood.
Titles from the MVM catalogue that have a English BD release include Basilisk, Canaan, Chobits, Dream Eater Merry, Ga-Rei-Zero, Gungrave, Majikoi Oh! Samurai Girls, Moribitio, Needless, Samurai 7 and Slayers (Evolution R and Revolution).

Psycho-Pass film greenlit with Second Season
Miyazaki confirms that the next Ghibli film after Tales of Princess Kagura will be out next summer.
Naruto spin-off 'Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals' gets another series

The latest and 10th addition to the Anime Limited catalogue is:

Durarara!! - ETA Q1 2014, Collection 1 and 2 as BD/DVD Combo

It's no surprise they had Durarara!!, it was confirmed that it was licensed by someone way back after Beez went defunct but Manga, Kaze and MVM confirmed that 'someone got it' when people asked.

As a Hybrid BD/DVD combo and Dubbed, that's not bad since it gets people to watch it on Blu-ray.

It's honestly no surprise they had Durarara. They were even using the Lunchbox from Aniplex's set to keep their money in at the May Expo.

That's right! We've acquired Durarara!! for the UK on homevideo - coming in two hybrid BD/DVD sets with the dub included in Q1 2014. Excited?
I think they mean it will be in two Dual Audio sets on both BD and DVD, not a combo pack. (At least I bloody well hope not)
Either way I may double dip on this series despite already owning Aniplex's Lunchbox set. It'll give me an excuse to watch it for the forth time?

From their phrasing, I'm hoping they mean Durarara will only be available as a BD/DVD combo. Nothing inherently wrong with combo packs, the problem being when companies still sell standalone DVDs alongside them.

Not that it matters to me, I too already own Aniplex's release.

I have never understood why companies make PAL masters of NTSC video. NTSC plays fine on PAL machines so it seems like a lot of extra work for no gain and sometimes even a decrease in quality.
I've had equipment that couldn't play PAL, and I'm sure there is still some existing out there somewhere.
There's also the fact that Japan's DVD format is Region 2 NTSC....
