dd/mm/yyyy

anything else is wrong
While I’d tend to agree for cultural reasons, I can see the benefit of mm/dd because if you sort dates in that format alphabetically (alphanumerically? Is that the right word or does it just make me sound like I’m in ReBoot?) in say, a simple spreadsheet or the filesystem of a computer, the dates will appear in the correct order. If you write the dates our way all twelve firsts of each month appear before the seconds, etc.

For that system to be properly fit for purpose though, it needs to be yyyy/mm/dd. So I propose we do that, and also move to a decimal time and date system not linked to a particular religion while we’re at it.

If I need dates that are machine-sortable without specific date handling, I use yyyy-mm-dd. The advantage is that if I, say, name files using this method, I can just sort by name and they’ll all line up correctly. (And it’s ISO compliant! ;))

Feels like it's going to have snow too and I still have no hot water and just a couple of portable radiators to keep me warm.

I may as well pitch up my tent and live in that :p

Ouch! Boiler problems? I remember something similar happening to me a good few years go, long story short we had a guy who couldn’t be bothered to tighten a nut up so taped it. He tried to gas us.

All electric here. Heating hasn't worked for years but I can't afford it/refuse to pay anyway & now the immersion is kaput. I know the issue is the element (which was only replaced 7 months ago) I should have just forked out for a new one & replaced it myself.

Housing Association using cheap rubbish. I have a 2/3rd size bath & it doesn't even produce enough hot water to half fill it at a comfortable temperature

Every day now :( but I can't afford private rent, nor can I handle living in a block of flats. Exchange is no good because the place isn't fit. I need to get out of here soon though.

This just gets worse for you! Anyone you know of that you can get to house share with? I was potentially thinking of doing this myself, then met and moved in with my partner.

Nope. I've been with my partner nearly 7 years and really want to move in together (she's still with her parents) but need somewhere new to do it really & we don'. Make enough. I'm trying to get back on the bidding system but they'll just see me as secure as I'm in a property & not give me enough points to win anywhere.

Hmmm definitely a tough spot you’re in. Maybe rob a bank then buy somewhere? I’m running out of suggestions.

Hmm does seem quite the conundrum there. I moved in with my brothers about 7 years ago and one of them moved in with who is now his wife, me and the other guy moved into cheaper accommodation and we work at the same place with full time jobs but he makes more then I do. The brother who moved away had a bit of bad luck when his son was born and now his wife can't work and needs full time care, so they live off benefits but they are able to live in their own house. How bad is the situation with your pay? How much would it cost you where you'd like to move?

@serpantino I suppose an alternate way of doing things is if you have something like asthma try playing that to your advantage and say your current property is medically unsuitable due to the cold bath issue etc and possibly get a priority for that. Alternatively slightly more extreme, do something that results in the agency terminating the tenancy, you’re then classed as homeless which gives you a different priority.

I have chronic rhinitis (amongst other things) so I'm trying that, but not with the housing association as they only have to provide me with 1 alternative property, no choice where or what & if I refuse it then I get nothing. Also if you intentionally make yourself homeless or commit actions resulting in it then you're automatically exempt from support.

Private rent around here averages around £210pw and most don't like housing benefit or any other benefits (we're all leeching druggie scum don'cha know?) Saw a place I'd love at £178 pw but you have to pay 6 weeks rent in advance+fees.

I was more meaning things that were minor in issue that wouldn’t themselves result in termination of tennancy but bug them just enough to make them want someone else, y’know, should have been way more specific there.
