The General Conversation Area

I’m hoping to travel more this year. To meet new people and go new places. If I can go to a convention or event every month then it would be a good start. Trouble is that part to me wants to go to Dokomi in Germany but I have a really bad fear of flying. So that might be too big a leap too fast. Not sure how to handle that.

Are you in the UK? Eurostar and going by train if so, apparently trains are far cheaper over there than in Britain

Happy Valentine's Day!

Urgent PSA for Kindle users. Amazon are removing the ability to download e-books to PC from your account page on their website. It's happening in phases over the next few days. Some people have already lost the feature. The process will be locked off for everyone by 26th Feb. If you want to backup your e-books, do it now.

They haven't advertised this, of course. I only found out because the Youtube algorithm happened to push this video my way:

I think that exact video came through my youtube recommended feed a day or so ago, and even though I'm not currently a kindle user, I would have been in the future but since they've pulled this "you will own nothing and you will be happy even if you paid for what you read" crap my future kindle e-reader purchase is now going to become a future kobo e-reader purchase.

Time to raise more money for Cancer Research. I also need to kick start a bit of a health drive after having a lazy 2024 after my hernia op.

Not sure where is the appropriate place to post this, but Michelle Trachtenberg who played Dawn in Buffy has passed away aged 39 - I always loved her character in that and felt very sisterly towards her, and given my estrangement from my own sister, this is hitting me harder than celebrity deaths typically do. I sincerely hope she rests in peace, she was too young to go :(

It's really sad, so young. I wonder if something happened after her transplant?

My course I'm doing with the open university is treating me to chemistry and physics at the moment so I developed a scale to remind myself which to revise the most:

Heh, yeah I'd much rather do chemistry and physics homework than have to watch any of the anime on that list, lol. I've avoided every one those anime series, and even Spirited Away and Ponyo are way down the list of my favorite Ghibli movies - Spirited Away is about 17th and Ponyo is at the bottom.

Science classes were actually my favorite in school, I even wanted to get a job in a laboratory as a mad scientist after I graduated! 😄

Study hard! ;)👍
