Problem is for games programming, I need a portfollio and money to actually go where the jobs are which is impossible at the moment :(

Haven't heard that song in a while, it was everywhere when I was back in secondary, same with Heaven is a Halfpipe.

Can't you devote some time to making a small game for yourself? on a zero budget, just to build up a portfolio of your work.
 
I can only do it if there's mimimal art needed, sure I can draw characters but doing animations for them is another matter entirely. If i can come up with a good idea then things will change around. Did have one a while back but it didn't pan out properly, may return to it soon once I kicked the kinks out of it.

Was also working on a fighting game with borrowed sprites, but I'm not sure I can even use that as only the code would be mine.

EDIT: Well its time to shoot off, damn libary computers have even blocked the forums Chat page.

LOL, funny comparison. Paul would show up if his name was mentioned every once in a while. As for me, new job meant I can't access AUKN during the day and in the evenings I've been busy with other stuff.

And if you consider that, let me know. I've got tons of contacts in agencies and the likes if you'd be interested. Although most of these would be to work in banks.

It seems like everyone in the computing industry has worked in a bank. Almost every lecturer I've had has used their time spent at a bank or financial corporation as an example for what I'm learning.

I was talking to Arby about if he saw you on saturday, we came to the conclusion you went on the sunday?

Also, i'm free this weekend so if you want to go for a few pints?

Over a Carvery lastnight and few drinks with friends because of one of the lads birthdays we've come to the conclusion that literally nothing phases me when i'm eating.

Topics turned to setting up one of our friends with a woman we don't like because both are desperate, to getting him drunk (only takes 1 budweiser and he's on the floor throwing up everywhere) and pushing him into her flat.

To getting them to go to the cinema together and buying a dildo to put in the popcorn and see if anything kicks off, and finally spiking his drinks with viagra and make him sit there with her over a meal.

Managed to stop my best mate from eating because the mental images in his head was putting him off, was a great laugh though. we love to put leo into strange situations and see what happens (he's practically a welsh version of karl pilkington)

Hey hey, i'm not bad thanks. Getting myself set up for 5 hours of work from 1 till 6, but yeah, not bad. Also looking for a proper job now.

I got my honours degree(somehow) so i'm now with that, but as to what kind of things i'll get with that at the level i got it, who knows. I'll wait and see at the end of the summer. Got to also prepare for graduation in the autumn/winter methinks too
 
@ Black Wolf,

As far as I'm aware, the best way to develop a portfolio is to work with the likes of XNA and Valve's suite's they release with their games.

From what I understand from interviews with developers, they'd rather see you working with easily accessible tools than attending a University course.

Anyway, thats as much as I know, I'm no developer and code looks ridiculously complicated to me.

I'm so tired, worked 9-9 yesterday with a couple of hours break but soo tired, glad I've got the day off today! :)
