I think it was without shipping.
 
In the end, I ordered 7 items from RarewavesUSA on Amazon Italy. Unfortunately my budget was quite low when this happened (I'm maybe pushing it a bit as it is), or maybe that should be "fortunately" since I might have gone a bit overboard if I'd had the money. Still, the way I see it anything I get is just a bonus since I'd be willing to pay normal prices (eventually) anyway.

Three of the items are marked as shipped at the moment:
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia
Battle Girls "Time Paradox"
Soul Eater Not

Apparently the Soul Eater Not set is the Limited Edition, which is interesting (especially since it seems to have just been released). If they all arrived in one box and were hit by customs it shouldn't come to much more than £50, although it might not even be that high depending on how the shipping cost is calculated (I'm not sure what the rules are like but it's unlikely the combined shipping would cost as much as the charges listed on the orders). If the items are sent separately or from within the EU there shouldn't be a charge at all.

If I do get charged I might see if I can avoid the handling fee since I'm still not entirely convinced those things are legal (they're a grey area at best) and it's my biggest issue with importing (it'd probably also be bigger than the VAT, another thing that annoys me). I still don't understand why there's not a system in place where you can pay import VAT online upfront (or with a notification), it'd encourage more people to pay rather than hope to avoid the tax and it'd save people being charged a ridiculous handling fee (that goes straight into the pockets of private business). That said, I'm not sure why I'd expect public organisations to do something intelligent.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully it works out for everyone (well, maybe not for RarewavesUSA, though maybe they won't lose out much either).
 
Would it really be £50? I mean I don't know a lot about these things but I thought that the import tax would cost 20% of the value of what you ordered. To pay £50 tax, wouldn't that mean you spent £250?

£50 total including tax and handling fee (could be more like £55 if it's one of the worse handling fees).

I've also had notices that they've cancelled the four orders that were still waiting to be shipped, nothing about the ones that were shipped yet though. Presumably it'll be the same as above. Oh well.
 
I honestly don't mind if the other two items I ordered end up cancelled. Elfen Lied is still pretty cheap to get on Blu-ray and there's a Funimation sale on Amazon US so I could get Tenchi Muyo: WoG for around $30+.

thing sounds weird though. Shipment confirmations go off without any interaction from the seller?
 
I had a bunch of cancelled as was listed in error notifications... nothing for the stuff that it said was already shipped though (including my HOTD - the one I really wanted..)

We'll wait and see what happens I guess...

edit: 4 items cancelled out of a total of 40 so far... still looking pretty good...

edit2: ah missed a couple of notifications... 6 cancelled according to notifications 4 cancelled according to amazon.it. HOTD is one of the cancelled ones according to the email :(
 
I just re-read the email and it said they didn't have the item in stock, hence the cancellation for H.O.T.D.

So I checked to see if the other items were available from them via Amazon US and they do have War on Geminar Part 2. So I don't know it might get through, perhaps they sold the items before getting through to the ones on .it.
 
I think "Not in Stock" is the excuse they give Amazon when the real reason is "We f*d up and don't want to sell it at that price..."

edit: I mean a lot of sellers won't cancel an order because it is not in stock... they'll simply get more stock...

Interestingly enough I also ordered Battle Girls Time Paradox, Tenchi Muyo Movie Collection, Tenchi Muyo OVA Collection, Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar Part 2, Spice & Wolf Complete and Chobits Complete and yet I have not yet received any cancellation e-mails (but I have received dispatch notices).

Either way; it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Just got another notification saying that my refund for the item will be processed within the next 3-5 days; whats interesting about it is the notes attached to this e-mail.

The refund relates to the following items:

I looked through my most recent and saw Grinding account but I think that's judst an artefact of bad google translate?
