The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

Tiger & Bunny Part 1 arrived today.

Impressed by the artwork on the packaging and the little magazines that came with it, not too fussed for the character cards though and boy all four parts are gonna take up some room. One part takes up the same room as my Darker than Black & Baccano Complete Collections

Made a few orders:

UK: From Amazon
Broken Blade (BD)

US: From UP1
Canaan (BD)
Ef: A Tale of Memories (BD)
Ef: A Tale of Melodies (BD)
Sengoku Basara Seasons 1+2 (BD/DVD)
Sengoku Basara: The Last Party (BD/DVD)

I have MVM's Canaan but its painful to watch... DVD w/PAL speedup AND out of sync subtitles. I do really want to watch it and after months of consideration I've just gone ahead and bought it. I've wanted Ef badly for ages too but I just never got around to getting it...
I hope I actually like Sengoku Basara though. I had never seen it, or even heard of it before, and I'm buying it solely from the trailers on Funi's Blurays for the First season & Movie
It has Johnny Yong Bosch voicing a character in it, so it must be good. RIGHT?!

Were still getting the series on region 2 right?
No AF... We definitely are (not) getting it as an R2 release...
Both series are also definitely (not) listed on AOL for August and September respectively as DVD only releases...

Sorry I like to make sure.

Now I'm going to write a email to our up to date anime schedule specialist.

I had those 2 down for uk releases now iv got to put them on region 1 sheet again

No no it was on the our site I think bakum4tsu is the one who put them on there, I saw them so I written all the ones that was going to be released in the uk honest.

AF, what he is saying is he imported the vastly superior BD versions because he didn't want to wait for the low quality DVD versions. He is importing extra pixels and bandwidth.

I think it's brilliant but I also think JYB's performance (which I sat through in the western version of the game) completely destroyed his character's appeal. And I could barely understand a bally word he said.

Don't be silly Rui, I'm not just importing extra pixels and bandwidth, I'm also importing better colour ;)
I don't understand how ANYONE can watch a show, especially one animated by Shaft, in SD. Scratch that, ANYTHING animated @540p+
The idea of watching Bakemonogatari, as an example, in SD is just ridiculous. You just don't do it...

Quite impressed to see people coming out in support of Tiger & Bunny, Kaze's release seemed quite... optimistic... to me, given how people normally approach things.

Maybe it's something to do with Tiger & Bunny actually being, you know, good?
It's also has the best dub I've heard for absolutely ages, which is a nice change since most new anime dubs are awful.
Kaze's release despite lacking on disc extras has some nice physical ones, and despite already owning and having watched both parts of Viz's release, I will probably get the other two parts of Kaze's. Lack of song subtitles (Which I'm STILL annoyed about) and inferior video aside it aslo appears to be their least problematic release...

Pure quality rarely seems to drive home entertainment sales, but I will accept that that is probably a large part of it in this case.
