MPD Psycho vol 1

I recently got MPD-Psycho volumes 1-3, the printing quality is the best I've seen in more or less any other manga, ever.

I've had 2 & 3 sat in my draw at work waiting to be read for ages the first vol 1 I pre-ordered did not show up, I only realised when vol 2 appeared and when I went looking vol 1 and it was not available anywhere, so I had to wait for a restock. Hopefully it is as good as I have heard after the wait. Dark Horse are getting really good at selecting titles at the moment, the Manga and Manhwa they put out has to be some of the best out there.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. I just hope they release Gantz reletively quickly, as it's already in the early 20's in Japan.
The covers for Gantz are just to die for, serioulsly. Apart from a lot of black, the first 10 volumes have lots of red on them, then 10-20 have blue, and it seems 20+ have a silvery/grey colour. I can't wait to own them.

i to can't wait for, gantz after reading the series for so long on the internet, It'll be good to own the actuall series.

Just checked out the Dark Horse page and Gantz vol 1 has a release date of 26th June 2008. Which I am a little surprised at as I thought it was sooner, because I pre-ordered it in my comic orders (which are normally 3 months before the release) in Feb.

Okay bad idea looking at the Dark Horse page, there is so much stuff on there I had not realised about that I now want.

Zone of the Enders limited edition boxset.

Bargin, £25 from Amazon bought it thursday, got it today. :D

Now, if only I could work out which to watch first, the OVA or the series.

However Idolo is supposed to be watched after the series as it does have some spoiler potential.

Shhhh, stop confusing the poor guy. :p

I haven't watched the series fully, only the first 5 episodes. I only know the chronological order.

Thinking about it, it is one of those series I borrowed off a friend ages ago that I should pick up myself as it has been around at bargin prices a couple of times.

All this talk of Z.O.E is making me wise i could find a copy of the 2nd Runner

I still think its funny that its only becaues of the game that i found out about the OVA and the anime

anyway my Bleach order finally arrived so i got vols 19, 20 and 22 in the mail. I now don't think i have any reason to return to the FP in middlesbrough anymore

Dark Horse are so addictive.

When they first announced Gantz, they said it took them two years to acquire! I think it's something to do with it being a title that would have usually gone to Viz - one of their parent companies owns it or whatever. Best save ever - if this had gone to Viz I'd have been so upset.

This is what Dark Horse have in store for us with Gantz over the next few years... Damn I am excited:

Yes, it's very good, although it's a very shallow series, it's great for what it is though. Though, since it has females with their tits out nearly EVERY chapter cover, I think it's safe to say: It's not for you.

But apart from that, I'm going to buy it, I <3 Gantz.

I want I want I want can we have them now please.

Oh dear another 20 plus issue manga. Really should not have looked at the Dark Horse site as I now want Berserk and Oh My Goddess they are both huge runs which I have not even started on yet.

I think one of the best things about Dark Horse is they give fans what they want, as shown by fighting for a series like Gantz. Also they don't treat fans as stupid they market there Manga and Manhwa as seperate things, unlike say Tokyopop that are still sort of passing of Manhwa and OEL Manga as authentic Manga, which does not really bother me as long as the art and stories are good, but there are some purists out there and it can confuse new comers to Manga.

Absolutely.

I seem to bang on about buying Dark Horse manga because some of their titles aren't getting enough people buying/they're a niche-ish company within the niche market that is manga (is it really to be called niche now? I think manga's gone mainstream a few years ago to be honest)... But I don't think they're in any kind of trouble to be honest. I read they had got the rights to do live-action movies of all their titles or something - for Hollywood. I mean we've already seen Hellboy and all those kinds of things - major successes, so yeah go Dark Horse.

Dark Horse really prove that you don't have to be a crap company if you're going to be a mainstream company. Go them. (Viz on the other hand *throws up violently*)

EDIT: And just read that Blade of the Immortal is going to get a TV anime, animated by Sunrise. So that's awesome - that should breathe a bit of new life into Dark Horse's release it, which is in dire need of a re-release the same style as Oh My Goddess.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! The fact it's shallow has really turned me off -- I don't want to spend years and years and hundreds of euros collecting a "shallow" series. Plus, excessive fanservice is pretty much always bad. So, I think I can give Gantz a miss then, and start on collecting Berserk instead! :]

I don't think it's fanservice. It's more violent rape and torture.

This is not an innocent series.

If it's just the girls with the biggest breasts that are being tortured, then it's very definitely a form of fanservice ...

My view of fanservice is sexualising characters, and showing more flesh, when it isn't really part of the storyline, i.e a girl falling over flat on her face and her 'panties' showing when she's running away from something - such as every 30 seconds in Najica.

Gantz' sexual content is very much part of the storyline, so I wouldn't call it fanservice.
