Well I don't have my original DVD's anymore to make a comparison but the Australian Remix DVD's specifically state 'Features improved video and 5.1 sound'.

I recall reading a review on Amazon.com, the reviewer saying only the audio had been improved. If someone can tell me for sure that the video quality is improved, I'll get the Anime Legends set at some point.

If it was Madman who released the set in AU, they're known for improving the video quality of their releases. They did so with Scrapped Princess, the R1 quality having lots of awful shimmering (much like Bebop) and dot crawl issues.

I've read multiple times that it was only the audio that had been mastered into to surround. The video was the same. Don't hold me on anything other than my memory though.

And, a picture would be brilliant Sy, Madman's releases are interesting.

(I kind of aimed the question at the package that hasn't arrived for you yet, because at the moment the post seems to be going very very slowly)

I bought the anime legends set off an ebay seller. It turns out i'd waited two weeks and no even sent it or something anyway I got a refund so no harm done.

Here's some shots of the Australian artbox. The ratings guidelines on the the cover artwork of the individual cases and spines are huge but Madman seemed to catch on that people would rather not have that and the covers are reversible. Nice touch.

Sorry about the lack of picture clarity.

The Aussies get it good: Madman actually care enough to improve the video quality, release only one set and the box art looks good.

Very interesting, thanks Sy.

How did you import it, by the way?

Australia got an artbox (and the figures) for Death Note (that holds all 9 volumes), and I highly doubt Viz will release one, so it'd be worth me getting that, but I haven't thought about importing from there before, so hmm.

I'm doubting the official Madman website would sell internationally.

The prices will be great though, I'm sure! The Austrailian currency is pathetic :D

They do and delivery is pretty fast too. I think that you'll find with shipping attached that they will cost about the same off of their site as releases do over here. For example the Bebop Remix set on their site would come to about £60 which is about the same as both boxset sets together cost over here.

Difference being is that they seem to get more reliable and nicer looking releases for the money they pay.

Just arrived, 4 DVD's and 1 Manga...

All my Macross kits and 1 Harrier arrived this morning also :D Look at the size diference, the VF's & YF's are 1/72 scale as is the Harrier!

Bandai has just re-released all their original Macross kits as part of last years 25th Macross anniversary. They're in various scales 1/72, 1/100, 1/144 and the SDF-1 at 1/8000. All ready ordered mine and they should be here in a week or two :D :D :D

Just ordered Saint Seiya vol 1 - my huff about the end of it still being MIA aside, I want some hot cosmos action.

Also, Bubblegum Crash to upgrade one of my remaining VHS tapes. I don't really like it but it was cheap, so I think of it as paying for the music.

What's wrong with it?

I have no problem with the series, in fact its one of my favourites, but the thinpack has several flaws: all 4 cases are bent, making them look like brackets ), and as a result the cardboard box is bent and the discs in volume 3 always come loose.

My other thinpacks come in those sturdy art box type boxes, Saikano is just dreadful.
