Man, I might have to actually subscribe to Netflix if they start picking up more titles like this.

Anime Limited also teased that Netflix UK's anime library could be growing even more. Hopefully this is a good sign that Anime Limited will be putting their weight behind releasing their catalogue on Netflix.

I also wish the UK companies here would work with Aniplex and Netflix to get shows like Madoka and Fate/Zero, which are on the US Netflix, made available here as well.

As Manga UK have said in the past Madoka really didn't sell well for them getting it on Netflix would open it to a whole new audience of potential buyers. Which also opens the option for the world's biggest 'no we can't try anything new!' company. Stick other shows that bombed on Netflix, it's not like it's gonna decrease sales of a show that's already bombed *cough* TWGOK *cough* ;)

I can probably guess the main reason it bombed was because 'No Blu-ray = No Buy' for most customers, henceforth they imported.

But in any case, adding the failed shows onto Netflix may help them out a lot. Since Madoka is a rather special title (because you can't judge the series by it's cover), allowing audiences to try it out on Netflix and witness the true tone of the series may convince them to buy it. But yeah it flopped because the Aniplex release was much better (Combo Pack + OST + Tons of Goodies for £55 per 4 episodes).

For me Madoka was very much the unknown, there's so many series released every year I don't have the kind of money to drop £165 on a series I might not like but for some dropping £25 on a series they're not sure about is a bit much. The only reason I went for the UK blu was purely word of mouth of other fans.

To quote what everyone else is thinking: Will you stop whining already Conan?

More likely imo is that Madoka is a massively otaku-centric show on a lot of levels, so it would have taken serious effort to promote it past that in this country.

Re: Summer '14 Stream - Star Driver (Viewster)

Thanks to Rui, Viewster's line up is done.

#2 - Day Break Illusion - Already accessible on Crunchyroll
#3 - Star Driver - Was region blocked on Crunchyroll
#4 - Vividred Operation - Already accessible on Crunchyroll

Meanwhile, here's an update on Animax. They now have every Spring 2014 title that Funimation have licensed for streaming.

These are now the remaining ones:

Winter 2014:
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha.
Maken-Ki! Two
Nobunagun

Summer 2014:
Barakamon
Sengoku Basara: Judge End
Shonen Hollywood: Holly Stage for 49
Tokyo ESP

Since they still have some more titles to add onto their service I'll probably bet that they are Barakamon and Sengoku Basara: Judge End since those were delayed on Funimation's end. In all honesty all of them will probably end up on the service anyway. I wouldn't mind as long as they use the Funimation subtitles.

Re: Summer '14 Stream - Star Driver (Viewster)

Crunchyroll have added two more slots to the Simulcast section, and one of them is probably the cartoon RWBY Volume 2 which got announced for streaming worldwide.

Re: Summer '14 Stream - Star Driver (Viewster)

If they hold it off for a few weeks it's probably going to be Hanamonogatari (probably for a limited-time only like Oreimo 2 OVAs and I think Nekomonogatari Black was on CR for a limited time)

Re: Summer '14 Stream - Star Driver (Viewster)

Viewster isn't done yet, they have more Aniplex shows to be released onto the service for the UK.

So what kind of Aniplex shows could appear? Well if you look at what Crunchyroll has, the answers are bound to be there considering the recent three are also on Crunchyroll.

It might be possible for titles like Oreimo (Season 1), The Idolmaster & The Irregular at Magic High School to be finally accessible for UK viewers.

Here's what I see as the likelihood

Winter 2014:
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha - Unsure. Madman have announced a license but no further details and FUNimation haven't annouced a physical license at all yet. FUNimation's YouTube trailers are CA,US-only, but that doesn't mean much these days as most of their videos are by default. Licensed from Kadokawa so it is plausible they have UK rights.
Maken-Ki! Two - Unlikely; Kaze streamed the first series and Madman give no indication of it being a sub-license so FUNimation did not have UK rights, and they probably don't have them for this one either. If Kaze were going to stream it, they would have put it up already.
Nobunagun Well, it's also on Crunchyroll (via YTV) and ADN has it in France. Madman have also announced it, but don't know if they got it directly or via FUNimation so I have no idea what's going on with this one. Again, FUNimation's trailers are locked to US,CA.

Summer 2014:
Barakamon Cruchyroll's license explicitly excludes the UK and Ireland, and US,CA,NZ,AU and ZA are notable by their absence also so FUNimation almost certainly has UK rights. They've only just started streaming it themselves.
Sengoku Basara: Judge End - Unlikely; As far as I can tell, Manga and Madman licensed the earlier installments from Shochiku, not from FUNimation.
Shonen Hollywood: Holly Stage for 49 - Same situation as Barakamon
Tokyo ESP - Ditto, since FUNimation have it, and Crunchyroll have it for other regions.

Re: Summer '14 Stream - More Aniplex titles coming to Viewst

Except that there's no sign that Shochiku have anything to do with Sengoku Basara: Judge End's international rights, as I said before ^^;

Viewster's stream explicitly excludes English-speaking territories and FUNimation have it, so I think it's very likely to go to Animax.

Re: Summer '14 Stream - More Aniplex titles coming to Viewst

Is there any clear reason why Funi holds on to some UK streaming rights?
