Perhaps not surprisingly, it was the latter I was more enamoured with, but now, I really appreciate this one a lot more and I think it might well be my favourite of the Ghibli canon to date. If nothing else, it does make me feel that I really ought to go back and fill in the gaps, as there's still quite a few Ghibli films I haven't seen.
It's definitely the sort of film you appreciate more as you get older. Which means you must be getting old. Like me ;_;

And, yeah, fill in those gaps.

Another - 8/10

The contrivance and convolution of the curse and some other elements of the storytelling risk stretching credulity to breaking point, but if you can get past that Another is an atmospheric and compelling mystery, and more effective as horror than either Shiki or Higurashi. P.A. Works' animation is only decent, I think, but the characters rarely stray off model and the detailed background art for which they're renowned is as striking and gorgeous as ever.

Tell me about it. I'm a few years (plus a few years) older than the main character ;_;

I actually need to give Only Yesterday another go. I never finished it. Those cheeks (face, not arse) are so off-putting...

I think it's broadly similar to Higurashi, but wins on "spookiness" being better horror than "craziness". I think Shiki is miles ahead of either as it doesn't exclusively trade on complete air to produce its tension (nor schlock gimmicks to provide its shocks, although they certainly aren't absent), instead using actual dramatic irony and character development. I think Shiki is miles ahead of most things, though.

It's weird, but I basically never think of this show when I'm thinking of PA Works stuff. It's certainly not the equal of Canaan, Hanasaku Iroha, or Uchouten Kazoku in terms of animation.

^ I have to disagree

Shiki was about morals and showing how humans was more monster

Another had the creepy atmosphere

Higarashi was the best out of the three of them

It was creepy
Insane
Shocking

Another is a fav of mine and so is higarashi but higarashi is my all time favourite

Is this a good time to mention that I don't like Shiki? ^_^;

I've never associated P.A. Works with the sort of consistently excellent character animation that is KyoAni's hallmark, but I do seem to recall Hanasaku, True Tears, and Tari Tari having more instances of fluid movement than Another. Some of the backgrounds really are amazing, though.

I guess it's an awkward time to mention that I liked Shiki then

I know everyone was giving mixed thoughts due to the second half but that's one of the main reasons why I loved the series. I just hope someone like Yen Press licenses the light novel so that I can know more about what happens after the anime.

I hated what the humans did that's my reason for hating it, because of the humans, it serves the humans right

I agree, I think PA Works definitely tend to be working on smaller animation budgets than KyoAni for a lot of their shows. But when they have a chance, I think they are right up there.

Where in blazes did you get the idea that I'm a Slayers fan? Give me a LITTLE credit, man. (Sorry, Slayers fans.)

? I don't get it why do some people.not like slayers......I mean it was a ok series and I even have a guilty pleasure for the 3rd season .....I just don't get IT

Sword art Online.
Part 1&2 was a great refreshing fun ride from the stuff I usually watch. Great characters, great plot. Although the romance I couldn't buy it seemed too fast.
Part 3- wow. Hard to believe it's the same show. Was boring beyond compare especially Leafa(sp)
Part 4- haven't bothered with yet. And probably won't for some time. I don't even care if Asuna gets resuced or not but I'm 100% she'll.

Blue Exorcist: The Movie
8/10
A really good movie, for a shonen!

I actually had low expectations for this. Mainly because almost all shonen movies are pretty naff. But to my surprise, this was unsuspectingly very good!

The animation in the movie is TOP NOTCH! Everything from the banging and action packed chase scene with the train at the beginning, to characters eating food! The animation is fluid and flawless and it's very obvious that the movie had a very high budget. Also the backgrounds are Beautifully detailed, and gave off the impression that True Cross Academy was huge!!! Very well done!

As for the plot, it was actually really well done! As soon as i saw Usamaro i thought he was going to be pretty damn annoying! Again, i was wrong. he was pretty darn cute actually, and the character development between him and Rin is very touching.

As for the things i didn't like, the movie didn't have a villain, so there wasn't any real feel of a threat or menace in the movie. I suppose you could say the demon possessed was the antagonist, but i don't think it counts. Also, I feel like the ending should have been sadder and it was pretty anti-climactic. Rin kinda just said goodbye and that he'd never forget him. Big whoop! He didn't even cry! He got teary-eyed but that doesn't count. The ending could have been done better IMO

Overall, Blue Exorcist The Movie is a very entertaining movie, with great animation a engaging plot and wonderful and touching character development. If you liked the series you should definitely check this out!

Monster

............................... I'm lost for words I can barely describe what iv just watched...........but il do the best I can by saying this for a start.......

..................WHAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH WHAOOOOOOOOOOOO OMG, FANTASIC, AWESOME FREAKING OUT OF THIS WORLD.

this series is one if not one of the greatest ANIME series I have ever seen.

Psychologically
Horror
Suspense
Intense
Spin Chilling
Mystery
Murder
Drama

This series has it all, I won't go in to details but I will say this.

What would you do If a person you saved turned out to be a monster.

The setting is different ......in Germany
The animation I would say is above average but is done well.
The characters .........brilliant especially him.
The story unbelievable.
The pacing.....great but I think it does go on a bit to much but it's good.

With when they cry you had insanity and mystery murder which I loved

With monster it only took one character to make me feel scared................I'm getting chills just by thinking about it.

It's just so good and you want to know about the monster.

I give this masterpiece a

12/10
