[Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

My Amazon JP order history only goes back to the middle of 2005 and I would estimate my first order there around Q3 2003 after I first came back from Japan, so I suspect that over the course of 2004/5 they went through a fair amount of database upheaval as that was when Amazon started to really explode there.

edit: looking back through my emails, they closed my account briefly for some security related reason when I changed from my university email address to the one I'm using now, so I suspect that my order history starts from when they reopened it. I didn't save any emails relating to it from my old Uni email account, so no further investigation is possible!

I'm surprised there was ever a time when you could use the same account, though, as far as I was aware Amazon JP was as close to a separate company as any of the Amazon branches could get.

edit2: wow, I haven't ordered anything from amazon.com (except for PSN credit) since 2011.

Last time I used Amazon US, last July, I used my UK login and password to order, and it shared the same details. In fact, I just logged in to check just now what I last ordered from them (Dusk Maiden of Amnesia)...

I was curious about this and apparently Amazon's official line is that at this point in time, you can use your Amazon account globally aside from on Amazon Japan (where you have to make a new one): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?docId=596896
That's been my experience exactly. I've ordered from UK, US, CA and FR with the same account but it wouldn't let me log in to JP with the same details so I had to make a new one.

Madman Entertainment have licensed the following:
- Bladedance of Elementalers
- DRAMAtical Murder
- Hamatora
- Hanayamata
- Wolf Girl & Black Prince

DRAMAtical Murder and Hanayamata have yet to be licensed in the US, let's just bet that Sentai will license them and release them in October (or before the end of the year).

Nice - Hanayamata is one of the best, cutest slice of life shows I've seen recently so really glad that got picked up. Bladedance is pretty fun as far as fantasy harem shows go too, so sure that'll do pretty well.

You would *love* HaNaYaMaTa, IL.

Other than that though, those are some real medium announcements for me (not that they're for me, but still).

I've never heard of it before but it sounds right up my alley. I'll have to keep an eye out for when this comes out.

It's all up on Crunchyroll if you don't mind watching it there - the OP theme totally rocks too.

Great, I'll give it a look.

I kind of liked Wolf Girl & Black Prince, although it did waste a lot of Yuri and BL potential. I'm not sure I'd watch it again, although it would be nice if they did a spin-off involving the side characters.

In North America, Disney XD has entered an agreement to air the first 26 episodes of Yo-Kai Watch later this year.

Here's a preview:

With the Nintendo 3DS game launching in Europe next year, I wouldn't be surprised if the UK arm or somewhere like CITV starts broadcasting the anime here?

Wonder if it will suffer from the same kinda 4Kids like edits that their version of Doreamon suffers from

IGPX Remaster Update

To paraphrase a friend of mine; we’ve got ourselves a bad news, good news situation here.

The bad news is the IGPX Remaster will be starting over from episode 1 after I had finished most of the first season.

The good news is the reason we’re starting over is because we have brand new masters from earlier in the production chain that look much better! Without going into too much technical detail, this is gonna result in a slight delay in the remaster since it requires me to redigitize all 26 episodes from tapes, but the process should actually be much less labor intensive and actually faster to complete in the long run (not to mention, you get better looking DVD’s out of the deal).

IGPX. Coming soon. Only Discotek.

Is IGPX even a show that people remember fondly enough that it warrants such extensive remastering treatment? Didn't it absolutely bomb on its initial release?

I picked up the Beez artboxes for £4 each. A 26 episode series for under a tenner. Cartoon Network and Production IG threw everything they had at it to make a traditional Saturday morning toon, had an a-list cast too, Haley Joel Osment, Lance Henrikses, Mark Hamill.

And in the end it was pretty good, better than Oban Star Racers. But it did low range anime numbers for what was meant to be a mainstream show, selling in the thousands in the US, low hundreds in the UK where they wanted it to sell ten times as much. It is very watchable though and I enjoy it, Saturday morning toon style.

Character names have already been confirmed to be localised, such as Keita Amano becoming Nathan Adams and the Yo-Kai Bakurobaa becoming "Tattletell", so further localisations wouldn't surprise me.

Then there's the fact that the anime has stuff like this:

.
(I really wonder how the dub is going to handle Jinkenmen).
