I wonder why Episode 16 is the only one not from 16mm film. The obvious answer being that the film no longer exists, but it's strange if it's constrained to a single episode. And I wonder what's been lost in translation with "film from opening day" - do they mean the original celluloid?

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the UK/US distributor is adventurous enough to do a mega box set that includes the material exclusive to the Archive DVD box as well.

I'd expect someone will dig up an answer about episode 16, it's the most obvious question to immediately ask when looking over these details. If I were releasing it I think I'd actually add an explanation upfront about episode 16, odds are the film has been lost or destroyed/damaged.

Re: D&R, the site says that it has been telecined from a film print used for the original cinema run and there are points where there is noise, which was present on the actual master they used. The site also confirms that the original materials for episode 16 no longer exist (slightly less ambiguous).

I kind of need these sets.

How... Bizarre...

Either the dub wasn't ready, they had push-back from Japan, or they saw all the crappy feedback from fans and decided they're going to do it properly in September.

A trailer has been unveiled for Belladonna of Sadness (Kanashimi no Belladonna), which was being restored in 4K.

Also, according to MAL this 1973 film is a hentai. what?

Interesting. What are they like with import charges? Do they handle it themselves, put prices on packaging, etc?

Any experience in terms of how likely to get hit by customs?

Chances of getting hit by customs are relatively high. However I've ordered from them about six times and two of them were caught by customs (everyone got hit by customs during the April/May 2014 period so I wasn't surprised).

If you order only 1 item it should go through without issues.

They don't handle import charges. Everytime i've ordered from them and its over the threshold i got hit by custom charges.

Right I figured out how you can calculate the weight. For each item's page in the Details section the weight is listed.

Some examples:

1.8 pounds:
Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (Japanese Import) Blu-ray Disc Box I Blu-ray

1.32 pounds:
Tokyo Ghoul Season 1 Collector's Edition Blu-ray/DVD

1 pound:
Bakemonogatari Complete Series Limited Edition Blu-ray
Denki-Gai Set 2 Collector's Edition Blu-ray/DVD

0.7 pounds:
Sword Art Online Set 1 Limited Edition Blu-ray

0.55 pounds:
Free! Eternal Summer Season 2 Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD
Is This A Zombie? of the Dead Season 2 Anime Classics Blu-ray/DVD - I'm calling BS on this one.
Tokyo Ghoul Season 1 Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD

0.5 pounds:
The Irregular at Magic High School Set 1 Blu-ray
Sword Art Online Extra Edition Blu-ray
World Conquest Zvezda Plot Complete Series DVD

0.42 pounds:
Fairy Tail Collection 4 Blu-ray/DVD

0.4 pounds:
Angel Beats Complete Series Blu-ray
Appleseed Sentai Selects Blu-ray/DVD
Baka & Test Summon the Beasts Season 1 Standard Edition Blu-ray/DVD - This is DVD sized and it's the same pounds as the BD one, uhh okay then.
Ping Pong the Animation Complete Series Blu-ray/DVD
Tokyo Ghoul Season 1 Standard Edition Blu-ray/DVD

0.36 pounds:
One Piece Collection 1 DVD

0.33 pounds:
OniAi Complete Series S.A.V.E. Blu-ray

0.25 pounds:
Sword Art Online II Set 1 Standard Edition Blu-ray

I'm starting to admit the fact that shipping is probably worse now.
