I don't think K-On has the OVAs, at least I can't see it mentioned in Sentai's press release

I haven't seen the press release but if it's anything like the Manga release, the OVA is just counted as an episode rather than a separate extra.

I forgot the extra episodes, I thought it meant the Ura-on and the Live house OVAs...

That's what I meant. I don't think the Manga release had Ura On but it listed Live House as Episode 14 despite it being an OVA. It actually really confused me the first time I watched it as episode 13 seemed like the end and I had no idea 14 was an OVA.
To add a little note, the Japanese audio has been restored on the BD version (considering that was being mentioned in the overseas cover art thread).IncendiaryLemon said:A $140 Persona 4 set? This I have to see...

For example, the 27 episode Second Season of K-On came on 4 discs and the 51 episode Soul Eater came on 8. My only real point of comparison for these is my Claymore set which is 26 over 6 discs and my Berserk set which is 25 over 6 discs but I can't really tell much difference quality wise between them in terms of compression. The only other DVD set I have is Trigun which, in my opinion, had an excessive amount of discs, 8 for a 26 episode show, which I again, couldn't tell much of a difference.

From my own experience it depends heavily on the content and the skill of the US company involved. People used to freak out over 7 episode discs in the past and I've seen some which looked ghastly and others which looked perfectly passable. With JoJo's quirky art style and the fact that my first taste was the (flippin' gorgeous) JP BD release, I'm inclined to think the DVD version would probably fail to meet my expectations even with a more generous use of disc space.

That scenario usualy ends with a kneecaped cheap version which is stuck on DVD and the shows native format being locked away in some stupid expensive set filled with crap I did not want or on a non CR / NETFLIX VOD service that will happily charge £30 for the "licence" to the show and not actually tell you what audio formats it has.Rui said:This is one of the things which ticks me off when people attack premium editions. In most cases, the premium editions will lead to a cheap version later and everyone wins (though those who save money have to deal with mild jealousy for a few months or years before being able to buy). When a series goes straight to a cheap edition, there's nothing for the premium crowd to pick up at all. We're just screwed, and because every series is different it's not like we can say "Oh well, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure had a rubbish release but at least I can ease the pain by buying NagiAsu instead and forget that my favourite show is ruined forever.".
