[Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

From my perspective June is looking pretty dull. It's mainly crap and stuff I don't care about in general. Ping Pong is probably the only one I have a passing interest in.

Why are Funi doing a premium edition for Soul Eater this late in the game? It's had multiple DVD releases, two BD half sets, a complete BD set and now a premium edition.
Considering the complete BD set can be had dirt cheap, who on earth is the premium edition aimed at? You can only resell the same show so many times.

Nothing really there for me from Funimation.
I already own Sacred Blacksmith and am wanting to catch up on Fairy Tail first.
Tokyo Ravens will be considered if it comes to the UK.
Nobunagan looks ridiculous, so will pass on that too.

That's a big month of releases for Funimation though!

I agree with Mangaranga on Soul Eater. Evangelion it is not!

Godamn FUNimation! Locking Tokyo Ravens Part 2  I am hoping that is a listing error! And I thought locking Fairy Tail half way was bad.

If I recall, Part 1 was [A|B|1|4]. They must have made an error during the write up. There's a couple of errors on some pages (most notably CLAMP Double Feature) but we will have to wait and see.

Also, I managed to get the covers up on the Overseas Cover Thread. Looks like I beat Fandom Post to it by a few seconds.

I guess we will have to wait, but I am unsure if I will buy part 1 now /:

Yeah I was wondering that too, I don't think SE is the kind of cash cow DBZ is too, strange decision. I would have preferred it if they did Future Dairy instead to be honest.

Nice one st_owly

Bad news regarding Soul Eater, as the Complete Collection from 2012 is underway here. If only i had this news two weeks ago, would have waiting ordering this. Oh well you win some, you lose some i guess

I'll probably get the terrible wrestling show and maybe Ping Pong out of all of that. I should upgrade Soul Eater but not sure I want the fancy version as I'm not the biggest Soul Eater fan.

I don't seem to buy many FUNimation releases any more. Weird.

- No Limited Edition for Ping Pong makes me sad, but at least it's stated to be UK compatible on both Blu-ray and DVD.

I was disappointed by that, too. Fingers crossed that someone like Anime Limited pick it up. I'm excited that it's coming out so soon, though!

Recently I've felt a lot of the more interesting stuff has been snapped up by Sentai.

There also seems to be a lack of 'big' anime at the moment, there's a few things I want to pick up, but nothing that's a must purchase

Yeah, I didn't really notice while it was happening but now the discs are actually coming out it's a whole lot of Sentai logos and relatively little FUNi. They don't have a very diverse catalogue lately.

I'm ridiculously excited about this as I really wanted to see Kage Kara Mamoru back when it came out (the US manga release was aborted too). Even though it looks sort of terrible, I'm buying on day one :D

Sentai Filmworks have licensed a catalogue title from 2004 - Windy Tales (Fuujin Monogatari).

This (as well as Guardian Ninja Mamoru, Reideen and She the Ultimate Weapon) seems to be part of a package deal from Tohokushinsha Film Corporation (TFC).

Guess what's also from TFC (well, production wise).. Paranoia Agent.

If there's to be a new, uncensored edition of Paranoia Agent, I may just finally buy it.

Raideen is a big deal as well.

I hear NGNL has a great soundtrack so I'll definitely get the CE now (and I also have heard amazing things about the show, yes I've seen the first episode and I rather enjoyed it).

Discotek Media have announced a couple of items on theor Facebook page today:

Lupin III: From Siberia With Love has a release date of June 2nd.

The big one for me is Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact! - otherwise known as Shin Mazinger, which releases on May 26th.

I heard a while back that Super Dimension Century Orguss has been licensed by Discotek as well, but no idea if this is anything more than an unsubstantiated rumour. REALLY hope it pans out, as Orguss O2 is an old fave of mine, and I'm curious to check out its predecessor!

Madman have announced their July releases:

http://www.fandompost.com/2015/03/30/ma ... ase-plans/

LOVE, CHUNIBYO & OTHER DELUSIONS SERIES COLLECTION (DVD)
LOVE, CHUNIBYO & OTHER DELUSIONS SERIES COLLECTION (BLU-RAY)
NOBUNAGUN SERIES COLLECTION (DVD)
NOBUNAGUN SERIES COLLECTION (BLU-RAY)
OUTBREAK COMPANY SERIES COLLECTION (DVD)
THE WORLD GOD ONLY KNOWS SEASON 3 COLLECTION (DVD)
MAGI: THE KINGDOM OF MAGIC (SEASON 2) PART 1 (EPS 1-13) (DVD)
NISEKOI FALSE LOVE PART 2 (EPS 11-20) (SUBTITLED EDITION) (DVD)
PET GIRL OF SAKURASOU COMPLETE COLLECTION (SUBTITLED) (DVD)

Wonder if this means we'll see Magi from Kaze before the year is out? Most of these I'd usually have as shoe-ins for Manga releases, but considering the current state of the company, who knows what might actually make its way over here...
