In general you just like them all, isn't it? How many doujinshi's with shinji and Kaworu do you have? ;)

Only a few...mostly comedy though.

I don't really like that pairing much despite liking the characters in the show. They're a little bit too young for me. Kaworu has a pretty liberal, mature attitude but seeing Shinji in doujinshi makes me feel weird :)

As for Sy's question on liking Kaworu, I agree that his main reason for being there was to interact with Shinji and reveal more about the latter's personality. In spite of this I really liked his honest way of looking at things after seeing however many episodes of more fragile people battling through life. He was like a breath of fresh air in some respects.

Also he's voiced by Akira Ishida whose character voices I appear to have a major fangirl thing about somehow.

I believe that the decisive factor to get the end going is the way Kaworu dies by Shinji's Eva. After this event, Shinji attitude changes a great deal and, IMO, it's the thing that leads to instrumentality. Like I said, that's my take on it, but it's been so long since I've last saw Eva, that I might need to re-watch it again.

It seems to me like they wanted to present Shinji as the only 'sane' and normal character amongst a bunch of characters that accept these weird alien/monster creatures attacking Tokyo III with little to no explanation.

I don't think of Shinji as especially sane or normal, but that's because I really like the viewpoint of the 3 children as representations of Id, Ego and Superego. Thus Asuka is more brash and self obsessed than any normal child would be. Rei is more of a blank state than any normal child would be. And Shinji is more withdrawn and introspective than any nomral child would be. None of them could function in the real world as real people, but they're great metaphors for telling the story through.

On the subject of Kowaru, I too originally thought the subtext between Shinji and he was intended to be homoerotic. However , in one of the audio commentaries it was mentioned that as an Angel Kowaru had eaten from the tree of life and not the tree of knowldge, as Adam (biblical, rather than in the series) and Eve did, and therefore didn't have the knowledge of shame. That really turned around my opinion on the interactions in later watchthroughs. It's not an attempted seduction so much as displaying the truly alien mindset of Kowaru, that we're looking at through our own (and Shinji's) human interpretations.

This is nothing personal but it has long confused me so I'm going to ask - why do 50%+ of Eva fans spell his name like that? Is it how the dub pronounces it? If I think about it it might be closer to the US way of speaking vowels but I'm not quite sure.

I found your post interesting, though I'm not sure such extreme people can't function in the real world - they struggle, but I think such people can and do exist.

I would like to see you write a damn review!

If you're talking about Aion he has wrote some very detailed reviews just not about Eva from what i gather. The review that springs to mind most readily is the one about the Death Note Boxset. Still don't be put off from doing more reviews just take aboard the critism given and try to do a better job next time :) Plus you could add to the review once you've given the End of Evangelion a watch

To be honest, I hadn't even realised I'd been spelling it incorrectly - it's certainly not a deliberate choice on my part. I'd hazard a guess it's from the American dub, which pronounces it Co-War-roo, but if that were the sole cause then I'd be spelling Asuka "Oscar" about 50% of the time.

Given how many people spell it that way (Kaworu-Kowaru) you can almost certainly be forgiven as chances are almost any time you'd see it written on the internet in English sites it will be the weirder spelling.

Ok on with the Eva analysis, I feel slightly satisfied now :)

But why is he saying that my review is crap? Yeah i admit it is crap i just wanted to say my oppinion on it, But just because he is good at reviewing anime, doesnt mean that he can say that my review is rubbish.

And would i be better off getting End of Evangelion from the internet? Because i swear its old now.

Never really though about eva like that, but it's an interesting view. I've met people with Shinji-like behaviour, not sure about what they think about other as none ever shared that much with me. But one of my best friends even more reserved than him.

Because he is a troll who likes to put people down ? In any case, just put that behind or else it's like your trying to flame your own thread.

Well if your lucky enough you may still be able to find it in places like HMV but i would go with internet. There is a boxset available with the movie and Death and Rebirth but you don't really need Death and Rebirth as i think a lot of the extra footage was in the platinum editions (been a while since i've seen it like)

just ignore the guy. your review was cool

Sure it was. If you wanted the ending spoiled. You read a review BEFORE you watch a series, to help to decide if you want to watch it, not after to see if someone agrees with you, thats called a discussion generally.

That review spoiled it, I didnt even read it when I saw all the spoilers, as I've not finished Eva yet.

End.

Leave it be, not everyone will be good at writing reviews straight off the bat, so give him the credit of writing somthing in the least. Its not as easy to write something as it looks =p

Rule No. 1 is dont put in spoilers though. How many of us go on IGN for example and read aload of spoilers in the Review section? We dont. We read the review, where they keep spoilers to a minimum.
