Ponies demonstrate the advantages of geoengineering and show that those with no practical skills can instead increase productivity through management. Adam Smith would be proud.

it's also a catchy song
Is it just me, or is that dragon thing humping that pony?

I thought the point of (what I've seen of it anyway) Metalocalypse is that you don't take it sersiouly?
Well, yeah, I meant I can't take it seriously as a comedy. It just seems... weird?
I kind of like it, but it's mostly meh. Bob's Burgers certainly shows that the talent of Home Movies was in Loren Bouchard.

Yeah, that is a bit too much. People who actively identify themselves as male fans of the show I just can't get on with. Feels far too much like "I'm great me, I'm so hip and alternative".

and if it didn't look anime related before, it does now

Anime World Order had a podcast about it, and it sounded awesome, so that same night I went and watched five episodes. It's actually really enjoyable. Not something I'd watch religiously, but it wasn't braindead or entirely without pathos. This is something I'd actually let my kids watch if I had any (most kids shows today, I'd be like 'No, just watch anime instead') and happily watch along with them.

Here's the podcast: http://www.awopodcast.com/2011/05/bonus ... magic.html

EDIT: Pinky is my favourite, by the way. She's hilarious.

Saw yesterday its being shown on Cartoon Network/CNToons from July 4th? My daughters already said she wants to watch it, along with a couple of other shows (Puppy in my Pocket or something) when they're on... woe is me.

Full Album here, approved by original score composer for the series, and about 20% cooler.

What dimension do you people come from that you think people like MLP because it's "cool" to do so? You think people are faking to win friends even on the internet? On 4chan? People like it because it's awesome.

No. It's fun and entertaining and it has a following because it's quality. No-one should have to feel ashamed of anything they do that brings no harm to others.

despite being publicly frowned upon? its no different if you had a 32 year old man watching this drivel and announced it to a town centre, to a man openly announcing that all anime is tentacle hentai and he watches it everyday. people will look at his with the same shame in their eyes. and thy man shalt jumpeth off a bridge for his shame.

A guilty pleasure? well, there's some things that shouldn't see the light of day tbh. And watching this show at any age higher than 5 is worthy of that shame.

So f*ck them. Public opinion is the enemy of the individual who wants to feel happy being themselves. Looking down on others for not conforming to the expectations of society is one of the most negative anti-individual things I can think of. Not everybody has to like everything. But we should let others enjoy whatever they like unless it's causing someone else harm.

Yes I do, actually. I can't deny people genuinely liking it, but it's naive to think that a lot of people aren't trying "be ironic" about watching a cartoon aimed at kids. If people were so absorbed in it and loved they wouldn't go around proclaiming how much they love it and making sugoi image macros. That is what hipsters do.

Publicly declaring your admiration of things unlikely for your age/gender makes you a hipster? I guess I've unknowingly been a hipster since I was about seven then; I always thought I was just being true to myself. Thing is, this kind of attitude has tended to make me unpopular rather than popular, which suggests that I've never been very hip. Is the appreciating things ironically a requirement for hipsterism? How do they tell the difference?
