London expo

The only issue I heard a lot of grumbling about was the amount of bootleg stuff at the show, which is a shame given how the Expo has such a strong following. I'm really hoping the organisers lose their devil-may-care attitude to visitors being ripped off and clamp down it on it.
Such products are quite abundant each time. With experience it becomes quite easy to identify the questionable stallholders, and thus to take appropriate caution.

People want cheap stuff, and the licensors are not here in the UK. These people can get away with selling unlicensed merch because of that. But even licensed merch can be cheap crap. 'Official' doesn't mean good.

Wasn't there talk in October of stalls selling bootleg plushies? Probably helps that none took my fancy. There's alot of stuff there but most tables have the same stuff covered. Do we really need 10 plus tables selling Shonen Jump stuff?

Do you really think any of those plushies are licensed?

I honestly have no clue. Some items are more obvious then others for being fakes.

Ok, so it's coming up to at least two months to the expo and I'm just wondering if anyone's going to this expo and if so, what are they planning to do this time?

Hopefully i'll have the spare cash to come down, chances are i will raid the bargain bins for loads of cheap dvds and there's always a stall that sells cheap manga (opposite the tokyo pops stands) So basically get as much as possible without spending a fortune and trying to steer clear of the swords stands incase i end up buying another sword.

I might go, depends on whether or not anyone I know from Uni is, new Sci-Fi and Fantasy soc is starting up when I get back so im hoping people there might go, I always feel such a loser going to these things by myself.

A fun but somewhat underwhelming day for me. There didn't seem to be very many interesting panels to be had this time. I attended and took notes on the Thrill Electric one and then basically had alot of time to kill until the Torchwood one.

I did manage to fill a majority of the time waiting in the line for Vic Micderpaderp. The length of that thing was insane but well done to them for seeing it through. Poor Vic himself looked a bit exhausted by the time it was my turn but I now have a signed copy of FMA volume 26 and a buddy photo which will be used should I ever run for PM :p

On a negative side, I have to say some attendees could learn some manners. Events like this are always busy but there seemed to be alot of folks this year who kept pushing and shoving. The worst of this was the Batman freebies at the end of the day. Rocksteady created a good atmosphere but the amount of people who went crazy over t-shirts and iphone covers, including snatching them away from those they'd landed by... I even got beamed in the head by a cover and then shoved aside by someone too eager to grab it. Which is amusing in some sense but disgusting in another. To be fair, there were some folks in that crowd who were trying to help maintain some order and good on them.

On a more positive note, stopped by the AOD booth mid afternoon and asked Andrew of the chances of the service getting Gundam AGE. Seems to still be in negotiations right now but glad to hear it its being sought :D
Speaking of, kinda sad there was no Gundam cosplay. Come on people, are you going to force me to go as Flit Asuno in May?

Streaming AGE would be awesome!

Any other hints/news on streaming... things?

No idea if anyone else asked about different series. I just prioritised AGE since that was my big concern and all I'd heard online is talk about the US for it. Letting us into the free streams on YouTube would be great but putting this on AOD would be enough to push me to financially support what is already a good idea.

It was good fun, thoroughly enjoyed myself guys. Spent it mostly with Shira, Zinki and a couple off other friends off mine. Nice to see Jaymii again, though forgot his luffy hat, so almost didn't recognise him.

Also to choas.....*wink*
