To be honest, no review is going to treat this fairly. Its all over the place. some bash it, some praise it, some are paid to praise it, its all the same. If people don't get their expectations matched, the game is crap to them(reviewers), and i don't even go near em anymore. Best way to see if its for you? demo and gameplay vids, not reviews.

Brother may receive it tomorrow as it was dispatched on thursday, so i'll get a better idea as to how good it is then

That video review is essential gameplay video with voice review over the top. Gameplay videos & Demo are not always the best way to judge a game.

A demo may highlight the game having a great introduction but doesn't tell you if the game keeps this up and doesn't end up being repetitive experience, goes too Hard/Easy or has other flaws.

Game play video carefully chosen to highlight only the best moments and won't show the more poorer set pieces. Also very importantly the game play can't really demonstrate how control system feels. As it may look wonderful in the footage but actually playing you can find it have unresponsive controls.

Video review has its advantages over normal reviews as if it points out something which good/bad and it actual shows you this through examples through a clip in the video review itself.

Truthfully there no real way you know the game is for you until you played it in full.

No sign of it here, so I guess i'll have to wait till Monday.

Probably lucky actually, cause, I have a tonne of work to do this weekend, the last thing I need is Lightnings shorts distracting me.

Oh and don't read the IGN Review guys ... They put a spoiler in it -_-

All this talk about how poorly converted the 360 version is makes me worried, I just hope it looks good in motion.

It is probably a decent enough conversion, which, while not as good as the original format, is only flawed in negligible ways. Just like all the supposedly bad conversions of other games, like Bayonetta, Modern Warfare 2, etc.

The main thing when it came down to the conversion to 360 was how different the size of the game was. the PS3 version is 38 odd gigs, whereas the 360 version is 18 gigs. Nothing was cut from it, but you'll be seeing cinematics at 720p instead of the PS3s 1080p, and you'll be having gameplay run on 572p next to the PS3s 720p. So basically, cutscenes for the 360 are like battles on the PS3.

hmm weird prehaps its just my tv but it always runs at 1080p for me cut scene or not when i have been playing, might rent the ps3 version lol just to see if there is much of a difference

Mine changes, when the game is in 720p and the XMB is 1080p, it flickers between, so I'm hoping it doesn't do that in-game as well, and just plays it all in 1080p, which I figure it will do. I'll take upscaled 720p over a mid-game flicker.

edit: stupid spell check.

The 360 upscales everything to 1080p if you have it set to do that, the difference is the quality of the original image that it's upscaling. I highly doubt you'll notice a "problem" unless running them side by side, but there is no doubt that the PS3 version does technically look better.

Guess the 720p (576p afaik) will be enough, play all my games 720p anyway, so the 1080p would be lost on me.

Thinking about the port, I'd get the PS3 version if I could, but my PS3 is at home with the parents, only able to have my 360 here in college with me.
Ah well, just means more achievement points :D

So... where did you get it from at that price, and when did you pre-order it? Looks like it'll be Monday or Tuesday for me.

I preorded it from a company called CoolShop. I preordered it 08/02/2010. I find for limited editions (in particular popular ones like this) it is best to preorder well in advance. When I preodered this some sites, such as Zavvi, had already sold out of the limited edition.

...

It didn't turn up. Postman has been, and i've had a text saying it's not there.

I don't think GAME send by courier when you opt for free postage either...
