EATV: Defunct'd - Manga UK Podcast will include EATV

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

.@EastAsiaTV do you guys like anime?

East Asia Television ‏Of course we like anime! It's a company ran by fans for the fans to have it on telly!

Err...

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

From not having followed much of this story, I had gathered it was all some sort of bizarre scam. Now I see it's just another case of naive, young entrepreneurs.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

...and so all this just continues to back up my opinion that this is a mess.

So they're blocking accounts on the basis that they're giving abuse to other users - how in the hell does that make sense...!

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Apparently there are some people who are confirming EATV exists, they also said they're attending Sunny Con and MCM Comic Con.

Quite frankly, it's the work of delusional amateurs.
That statement is East Asia TV as a whole tbh. I think we're all on the same page in that we thought that since Day 1? That Kickstarter just sums it all up - they have no idea what they're doing.

I mean really, this just screams naiveté. I have absolutely no experience whatsoever with working in TV or any kind of business really, but at the very least, I would have:
1) Instead of doing that stupid-ass poll that allowed the public to vote for anything with the explicit promise of it being shown, I would have instead approached one of the distributors here with a large library (such as MangaUK or MVM) and enquired about either a partnership or the rights to individual series'. Instead of asking fans who would have unrealistic suggestions, I would have researched the market to see what viewers would like out of what is available.
2) No Kickstarter because stupid idea is stupid. However, if I were for whatever reason going to do one, I would have actually researched how much it would cost to do the kind of thing (they clearly didn't do that) and probably the hardest part - convince a Japan studio to support the idea and have them produce something to show potential backers (even if it means fully funding some test footage), then do a professional Kickstarter (that's been proof read and has no spelling errors - seriously) presenting the idea in a professional way that will actually want to make people want to back the project.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Really, honestly, we'd all collectively do a better job of it as AnimeUKNews.net than this nonsense.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

I feel we should try and beat them to it by Kickstarting an AUKN original anime project instead. Kawajiri doesn't appear to be busy.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

AUKN presents, a Yoshiaki Kawajiri production, No Matter How I Look at it, My Little Ninja Cannot be this Cute and Doesn't Have Many Friends. It's a love story. A £100,000 goal will be enough to fund a 13 episode co-production. We can let people voice a character as a reward for the £5000 tier. Someone call Japan, we have their next big breakthrough title just waiting for them.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

FMP: The Sigma Barrage.

Though Seriously, we could do a better job hosting a TV Station. I mean a UK version of Neon Alley even.

Nah. Everyone, may I present to the table: No Matter How I Look At It, My Little Ninja Sister Nobunaga's Senpai Can't Be This Cute And Doesn't Have Many Friends...Of The Dead, with a second season that adds an ! to the end of the title.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Pffft. You need to add ⸘ instead.

I gave them some pretty harsh feedback on Kickstarter itself. I urge you all to do the same.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Twitter Q&A:
@EastAsiaTV when in summer will u be launching
(Translated in English: When in summer will you be launching?)

@Tmckinnin All we can say at this time is it will be this summer though we'll announce the date during our convention tour.

@EastAsiaTV will u be in mcm scotland this yr as well
(Translated in English: Will you be at MCM Scotland this year as well?)

@Tmckinnin Scotland MCM isn't apart of our tour this year but we'll consider it for future appearances.

@EastAsiaTV a lot of people saying not myself as i have faith that u will suceed others saying that this channel wll not suceed what thing
(Translated in English: A lot of people are saying, not myself as I have faith that you will succeed but others are saying that this channel will not succeed a thing.)

@Tmckinnin Thank you for your support, viewers like yourself are the reason we strive to make this channel!

@EastAsiaTV we need a channel like yourself as too many US teens show on right now and we need an anime channel US has them we dont
(Translated in English: We need a channel like yourself as there are too many US teen shows on right now and we need an anime channel, US has them and we don't.
@EastAsiaTV also where are u based and are u hiring as i submited and application work for u heard nothing
(Translated in English: Also, where are you based and are you hiring as I submitted an application work for you? heard nothing..)

@Tmckinnin We are based in Birmingham, UK and at this time we're currently not hiring though we will be in future.

@EastAsiaTV what do u say about the non belivers to those who have doubts your credentials (not me) and about u being real and such
(Translated in English: What do you say about the non-believers to those who have doubt your credentials (not me) and about you being real and such)

@Tmckinnin We're filtering the information we release for promotional purposes but have a wonderful skilled team behind the works.

@EastAsiaTV cool also when u do show anime that had a US release but had US opening will u be able to show that series with it orgianl JP Op
(Translated in English: Cool, also when you do show anime that had a US release but had the US opening, will you be able to show that series with it's original Japanese opening)

@EastAsiaTV i hope that u can air the anime with their orginal jp op for example carcaptors if going to air need to air their orginal jp op
(Translated in English: I hope that you can air the anime with their original Japanese opening, for example Cardcaptors if going to air needs to air their original Japanese opening)

@Tmckinnin Depending on which version of an episode the vast majority of people prefer we'll aim to broadcast that.

@EastAsiaTV i would like it if u guys can air their origianll JP op sayt yugioh rather than 4kids opening then u can air their orgianl jp op
(Translated in English: I would like it if you guys can air the original Japanese opening say Yu-Gi-Oh! rather than the 4Kids opening then you can air their original Japanese opening)
@EastAsiaTV when the channel does launch will it be a 24/7 channel like air kids anime in the day and more during the afternoon and such
(Translated in English: When the channel does launch, will it be a 24/7 channel like airing kids anime in the day and more during the afternoon and such?)

@Tmckinnin The channel will be 24/7 and our schedule outline can be seen here http://www.mcmbuzz.com/2013/12/09/east- ... mmer-2014/

@EastAsiaTV will u be showing some classic anime of the 90's from my childhood as well also duirng the run will u be taking request as well
(Translated in English: Will you be showing some classic anime of the 90's from my childhood as well as during the run will you be taking request as well?)

@Tmckinnin We are airing a variety of shows from different decades and suggestions will be reopened after launch but that is all we can say
The fact that a company would feel the need to prove it exists to a bunch of nobodies on twitter is enough to show its illegitimacy

@EnIgMoZz2 EATV has been registered with Companies House and is legitimate. Due to our early stage we cannot give out ALL of our details.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Well the Kickstarter draft page has been taken down, presumably to save from any further embarrassment.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

That's unfortunate. I would have been curious to see if they'd go on to put up any half-hearted concept art for their proposed animation.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Just based on the title "Steampunk'd" I wouldn't have supported it, even it was written by Gen Urobuchi, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, animated by SHAFT or Kyoto Animation and promised to be distributed by AniplexUSA for a reasonable price.

Although saying that, I might pay to see Miyazaki direct something written by Urobuchi just to see what the hell would happen xD

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

Red-headed girls forced to participate in magical knife-fights that will somehow save the environment?

From the description on the kickstarter page, I wouldn't have expected anything more than a terrible Black Butler knock-off, but I would have been curious to see what they'd have come up with all the same.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

It sounded dreadful. It would have probably been funded though; they seem to have attracted a lot of interest even though they have yet to provide much evidence of any ability to follow through on their promises ^^;

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

I knew this was too good to be true. This whole thing smells like last week's fish dinner.

Re: East Asia Television News Thread ~ Schedule detailed

..and now their website is offline. Apparently the "current situation" will be explained in an article to be released tomorrow.
