I would prefer the physical bonus this time too (I never really listen to commentaries by people who didn't make the film) but some people seem really keen on the alternative :D

(Please don't let people get all dramatic when the option they didn't want wins... it always happens and is so silly.)

They come with both on disc documentaries as well as well written and produced essays in a booklet. I love reading the essays :)

Oh I agree with booklets. The best part of NISA's releases are their booklets with interviews and interesting behind-the-scenes information. I also have the Wizard of Oz 3 disc DVD that comes with reproduction pamphlets and tickets from the world premiere, which are really cool (plus I picked it up for about a fiver :p). Both options in this case are nice, but I like the commentary just a bit more. :)

Its mainly things like artcards (and especially postcards) that don't really do it for me.

I left my decision up to eenie-meanie-miney-mo. Pamplet it is. I do agree with Rui about how commentaries are much better when they're with someone who was actually involved with the production (no offence to Jonathan).

And yeah, I never got the big deal with post cards - I'm never going to use them. Same with the pencil and sticky notes from the Azumanga Daioh boxset.

Just voted for the theatrical pamphlet.

While I don't mind things like commentaries I prefer things like booklets and soundtracks.

I don't normally bother with commentaries, but Mr Clements is the main reason I listen to the MangaUK podcast so this is a no brainer for me as it would put the rewatch value through the roof. The pamphlet looks nice but it's something I would look at once and then put on a shelf and forget about. That said, I won't be too disappointed if it wins the vote.

The Celmentary isn’t complete without Helen McCarthy or Daryl Surat of course, but if its included, why not? ;D

Ah damn, #teamclementary lost after all. Pamphlet wins :p

...but they're trying to get the Japanese audio commentary instead. That works for me too. Perhaps we could get a Clements introduction instead? Like in the old Saiko Exciting days.

Looking into the soundtrack as one of the options for the third stretch goal but that's going be harder. More details in the link.

We've had a lot of requests for the soundtrack so far and here's why it wasn't a part of the first set of goals:

- Currently Avex manages those rights, we got our rights from Shochiku.

- We've requested access, but we first have to explain how many units are needed and negotiate a fee based on that.

It's a fiddly affair and I'm trying to push for it over the next week. I imagine after all costs in we'd need to hit $90,000 or $95,000 after fee, print costs, expansion of digipack and royalties to do this though.

We'd confirm as part of the next stretch though as I need to calculate the costs after making contact with Avex but our goal is to include it in the next pool of choices! So please spread the word and help us hit our 2nd goal first!

I was thinking about this kickstarter thing and what would entice me to dive in. Then it came to me, a British dub of "Victorian Romance Emma". I could see myself pledging a fair bit of my brass on that if it were possible. Any chance of that? :wink:

I think Andrew has already said that the dub will be produced in the U.S., due to the cost. Iirc, a British dub was considerably more.

Thats a shame since it would be great if the UK could start dubbing again.

Still, we are relying on backing from America and a few of them have complained they couldn't understand what the characters were saying in the UK dub of Arrietty.

It depends where the bulk of the audience lies.

Funny, I heard that the British dub was more listened to that the yank dub over there. :wink:

It's a shame that we don't get the Jonathan Clements commentary but there's still time for it to happen and Anime Limited have stated that they haven't discounted the idea.

I hope we get the soundtrack.

You know failing getting it on the disk, there's always the option to provide it as a rift-trax style "Play along" sort of deal.

Yeah but where does the extra $25k come from to fund it? Unless you mean bodging it for much cheaper and saying "Here Mr Clements, here's your fee, no record it on to this laptop via this microphone and we're done"

Really!! Yay for us!

Haven't seen Arrietty. I was thinking about getting the Australian special edition which has both the US and UK dubs on it. Would be interesting to compare.
