Taking myself away from the front lines for a moment to say thanks! The hard work is on-going though as there's plenty more work to do where this came from, watch this space for plenty of updates too and do feel free to spread the word further - it's always helpful!

Yours, inundated by mails now,

Andrew

Re: Anime Limited Launch Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter

Only 50 or so of the early bird physical copy + art cards tier left when I pledged just now. I think $55 would have been pushing it for a film I haven't seen but I was pretty happy to plonk down $45 given the quality of the three AtA releases I have so far.

There was no way this was ever going to not make that amount.

Re: Anime Limited Launch Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter

Backed at the $45 mark for now. I'm incredibly tempted to go for the $130 choice with the art book though.

Re: Anime Limited Launch Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter

Got a $45 pledge in too. This should make its goal fairly soon. Better get those initial stretch goals ready Andrew, you'll want to keep the momentum up!

Re: Anime Limited Launch Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter

The half-way point has been reached - $15,000.

EDIT: All the early bird collectors editions have gone too.

Anime Limited has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help deliver the anime film Mai Mai Miracle to the English speaking world.

Synopsis

Shinko, is a third grade elementary school student with a magically active imagination. She spends a lot of her time listening to her grandfather's history lessons, imagining what her town was like 1,000 years earlier. One day, a sad and sombre girl called Kiiko transfers to Shinko's school from Tokyo. A strong friendship soon grows between the two girls as Shinko helps Kiiko come out of her shell and deal with her loss - all thanks to their adventures, both imagined and real.

The anime was directed by Sunao Katabuchi (assistant director of Kiki’s Delivery Service) and produced by MADHOUSE in 2009 and it won a slew of awards including Best Animated Film at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montréal along with the Excellence Prize for Feature Length Animation at the 2010 Japan Media Arts Festival. It has appeared at certain festivals in the UK such as being part of The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2013 but this will be the first time that the anime will be released in the UK and US to a wider market outside the limited festival circuit.

The basic fundraising goal is US$30,000 and supporters can get their hands on a selection of goodies. For pledging $10 or higher, supporters will receive a postcard of thanks from Anime Limited. For paying $25 or higher, backers will receive digital copies of the artbook, wallpaper, and movie. Backers can spend as much as $10,000 and they will get a chance to travel to Japan for the Mai Mai Miracle tour which includes accompanying the director around sites used in the film (flight, translator and accommodation included).

So far things are going well. At the time of writing, Mai Mai Miracle has earned well over $15,000. If you want to help contribute to this release then head over to the Kickstarter page and check out the details and help back a truly magical anime!

Re: Anime Limited Start Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter for Engl

I had the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen last year. Despite early cynicism towards it I was soon won over by its charm. This is a great project and I hope one is rolled out for Fuse: A Gun Girl's Detective Story. Forum mods can merge this thread since the news story is on the front page.

Re: Anime Limited Launch Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter

I got one of the last $45 Early Birds. Very tempted to upgrade to the $130 for the artbook, but will need to wait until near the deadline before deciding (assuming they are not all gone by then).

Re: Anime Limited Launch Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter

I end up being stuck waiting for PayPal to clear some money all day and the early bird CEs go (I was stupid enough to not check when Kickstarter charges, as I've never pledged to anything before - I've honestly been sceptical about KickStarter from the get-go but it's based on my awesome experiences with Andrew that I decided to pledge for this). Just to check, even if the goal is met before then, we won't be charged until 7th March, right? (I could afford it if charged now, so it's not that I've pledged money I don't have xD).

I've pledged $55, to get a physical copy.

You will not get charged any earlier since it has to reach the 30 days limit (even if it has passed it's target) since other goals can be added to include additional things which will increase the target (I speak as someone who backed the BGC Kickstarter last year which added extra targets during funding). If it doesn't reach it's target then you don't get charged.

Cool, thanks.

Will AL be selling this in the UK in rigid cases after the Kickstarter is over? So will it be available for pre order on Amazon? Also, since American’s are participating, are they selling it in America?

Well it's not quite that, but NISA have just announced that is has licensed Fuse and will be giving it their usual great BD treatment!

Past $20,000 now. This will be funded by tomorrow.

I've pledged $55, as much as I'd like an artbook not sure if I will increase my pledge as I've never seen it before.

Thanks for the news! I'll keep an eye on the NISA release but if a Kickstarter were announced for Fuse then I'd switch. I pledged $45 for Mai Mai yesterday and it looks like it's going to hit its target!
