It mostly features the same characters (though perhaps with a slightly different balance and more time with side characters) and I think at least most of the events could be "canon" without posing any major problems. It's really just another season that focusses more on the "lighter" (and school) side of the show, with Second Raid focussing more on the other aspects of the show.
I don't know what the official line is though, it's quite possible that it is counted as a spin-off (or something along those lines).
As I said before my Gurren Lagann UE was sent from Zavvi in a cardboard mailer. For the £5 difference I'll be sticking with Amazon too though, I don't want to potentially be saddled with an additional €30-€40 tax bill due to Zavvi shipping from outside the EU.Buzzkillington said:Having just checked my Amazon order and seeing it's sitting at £105, I think I'd rather pay that extra £5 than risk Zavvi sending it in a jiffy bag or something lol.anime_andrew said:Fear not! Zavvi has it at a tasty £99.99 if you're that way inclined....link here.

Price-wise, absolutely fine with me. FMP is a very good show. Nearly 50 episodes, a nice looking art book and premium packaging. Nadia was what, about £50? 30 odd episodes and a chipboard box. The Japanese set is currently going for c£250. The US sets are the cheapest of the lot, but then there's no complete collection box set, and the individual releases don't look anywhere near as nice IMO.
With the level at which the premium packaging is operating now, I can't wait to see what AL have in store for Escaflowne!
