UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Right, with Crunchyroll doing another Makoto Shinkai weekend, I just reminded myself about what was going on with Anime Limited's upcoming in-progress Shinkai collection.

So as far as I'm aware these were confirmed:
- Voices of a Distant Star
- The Place Promised In Our Early Days
- The Garden of Words
- Travelling Daru (short)
- She and Her Cat (short, somewhat confirmed via Facebook response back in 3rd July 2013 - this took well over an hour to find this post btw)

With Andrew and Jeremy around I was wondering if there would be more titles added to the set?

Like:
- Crossroads
- Dareka no Manazashi/Someones's Gaze
- Egao
- Kakomareta Sekai/Enclosed World
- Shinano Mainichi Shinbun
- Taisei Kensetsu commercials: Bosporus Kaikyou Tunnel, Sri Lanka Kousokudouro, Vietnam Noi Bai Kuukou
- Tooi Sekai/Other Worlds

I don't recall if it was confirmed that they had successfully got them or not, but I do remember them saying that they were trying for 5 Centimeters Per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices - they were wanting the set to be as complete as possible.

Dandy Delayed? NO Baby :(

Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

"Space Dandy - Season 2 Collector's Edition [Blu-ray]"
Estimated arrival date: August 05 2015

Possibly the knock-on effect of KLK vol 3 being pushed back?

Fine by me, my June and July outlays already look horrific.

Selfish people only caring about their budgets, you should care amore about my desire to watch Dandy :p

Space Dandy Season 2 (Collector's and Standard versions) + Season 1 & 2 DVD set delay is unfortunately true, but isn't due to Kill la Kill at all. Delay in approvals is the cause of this one.

Will copies still be on sale at Nom-Con Jeremy? Iwas planing on picking it up there.

Ooph, I wanted my Dandy soon :(

Hopefully there's not any Q3 delays into Q4, I really worry as we're due two Ultimate releases then (FMP and Escaflowne).

I'm not good at saving the money when a release is delayed. I tend to buy another one with the money and budget it for the month it's delayed to. :)

Want Dandy. But want Baccano more. As I understand it the December date isn't the actual date and there will be an announcement of the real date at some point in time?

Want Dandy, KLK, Baccano, FMP, Escaflowne, SAO and just about everything else on or off the current slate. Q3 and Q4 are going to be busy!

I have a feeling one (or both?) of those Ultimate Editions will get delayed. I have a hard time believing AL would put out all of these releases in such a short amount of time.

Maybe my dates are wrong but August seems to have much more in it than July at the moment. Maybe it's some of the few things I haven't ordered already that are skewing things.

I was looking forward to Space Dandy, I've been holding off on watching the first season until the second is available. I'm kind of tempted to just watch the first season but if I really hated it then I wouldn't buy the second season and then Anime Limited would lose out so that'd be a shame.

I see no reason for you to funnel money to Anime Limited by blind buying a season 2 if there's a chance you'll hate season 1. Watch S1, if you enjoy buy S2, else wise you have cash to spend on something else (another AL release perhaps if your hell bent on giving them your money)

I've also seen cases where the seiyuu are allowed to ad-lib, review the script to ensure they're happy with it and given special consideration with scenes tailored to their unique skills
I don't know if it's something you get so much now, but Jonathan Clements says that for the first ADR script he ever did there were actual adlib marks in the script which he left in, and has never done so again (seiyuu getting paid more and being more involved than the people who turned up to his recording session having never even been shown the script before).

then there are many cases where references in the script will be based on a particular actor's famous roles which fall flat in subsequent dubs (e.g. Ikeda Shuuichi in pretty much every post-Gundam role he has done).
On the other hand, "urusaiurusaiurusai" works for pretty much any tsundere loli...

It's always bugged me that the voice actors I'm actually interested in hearing talk about their work don't often get to do so in commentaries. I don't think I've ever heard an on-disc discussion with Steve Blum, Richard Epcar, Mary McGlynn or a handful of others who I think do great work. I think I may have seen them crop up in DVD special features in short segments, but never commentaries. Given the length of time they've been active in the industry and their own involvements beyong voice acting, they strike me as interesting people (and I know first hand that Steve has LOADS of great industry insights and anecdotes.)
It was great to here Crispin on a number of Boogiepop Phantom commentaries (although he does make a glaring chronological mistake at one point), and also to hear him accidentally pronounce Haruka correctly in the Noein commentaries and 'correct' himself...

Crispin Freeman is THE MAN! I love hearing him talk about anime. I thought his short interview on the Eureka Seven DVD set was great - its very evident that he's a fan through and through.

I also got a real blast out of seeing him comment on a Stateside distributor's Facebook page a few weeks back, with a totally fan-level comment. Something like 'are you guys gonna release any more magical girl anime?'

Nothing but admiration over here.

They said first volume, which makes the £25 price a bargain from Amazon! I like the artbook design too. Is the artbox front loading, or has that not been decided yet?

Maybe it's my weird mind, but Anime Limited do like releasing things on the last Monday of the month, don't they? :)

I am pleased Space Dandy has been delayed as it makes paying for A Lull In the Sea from MVM easier. Just no more September releases please :)

I've looked on Amazon and noticed 009 has been on pre-order for 18 months for me! About darned time. :)
