HOLY **** YES!!!!!!! I'm so happy that such a great series which I was convinced would be relegated to DVD only is being dubbed (and thus should also be on BD too). Pre-ordering as soon as they announce a physical release.

Holy crap that was a fast turnaround - far quicker than I had expected. Bryce Papenbrook is the last person I though would voice Shirou and I just cannot imagine his voice fitting him. Kind of expected Sam Riegal to be honest.

Was wondering when this was actually going to be announced. Another quick turnaround. I'll probably buy it.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Daisuki appear to be ramping up spending this year, with God Eater as a worldwide exclusive, co-licensing One-Punch Man for much of the world, and some kind of deal for Concrete Revolution (the new show from the staff of Fullmetal Alchemist and Bones). I'm wondering if they'll surprise us all with some acquisitions tomorrow, for this season or later in the year...

I wonder if they're finally starting to try and actually compete, instead of just taking the rights to shows their owners can't sell...

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

HOLY CRABSTICKS!!!

LEGEND OF THE GALACTIC HEROES!!!

Whoever wold have thought? What an absolute blinder! This has to be the biggest news from the expo for me so far - as in, nobody bother with any other announcements, because they can't possiby be as good, right?

Very, VERY happy about this one. Here's hoping it makes its way to the UK!

The PonyCan Pannel is going to be a bloodbath. I'm calling "Anime Fan Wants : The Revenge" to happen there.

I wonder how the SM pannel is gong to go given things kinda went from Euphoria about the return of SM and SMC to into the disaster we've seen that franchise become between Toei's criminal handling of Crystal and Viz's horrendous handling of the home video release.

Funimation I expect the big thing being that they can't confirm DB Super.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Glad that they've brought back Mela Lee to play Rin in the UBW dub - Papenbrook as Shirou will probably just be Kirito MK 2 I imagine...

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Um.. wow. LotGH!! I shall be buying those as soon as Sentai release them.
I will eat my hat if a UK release ever happened. Although I will have to buy a hat first to then eat.

I wish Vertical announced a few more manga licenses. Not interested in cats. :)

Viz and Funi were good too. Getting Deathnote and original FMA on Blu-Ray will be good. Funi's shop has FMA for less than $50 already, so will pick up the standard edition for that. I feel no need for a premium release.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Wooo! FMA 2003 on BD. Unless one of the UK distributors has a surprise announcement, I'll definitely be importing at least the limited edition.

Can't say I feel desperately inclined to buy it, but I think it's nice that someone is finally taking a punt on LoGH at last.
Blasphemy! It's required purchasing material by everybody and failure to do so is punishable by death!
I found LoGH deeply zzz and quit at around episode 30. I wouldn't watch the rest if someone purchased it for me /o\

What's this about FMA 2003 (aka The Best Version) coming to Blu-ray? I'll have some of that. Not getting rid of my DVD digipacks, though.

I'll have more details in the Overseas thread, basically a listing for the Blu-ray version has appeared on Funimation's Shop.

Update - Here you go.

Dub trailer for Fate/Stay Night has been uploaded by AniplexUSA. As I thought, Bryce's voice is not a good fit for Shirou.

He certainly does feel miscast. It's like Aniplex couldn't be asked to find a more suitable actor and went with him because he's the main lead for their other titles Blue Exorcist, Sword Art Online and one of the leads in Durarara!!. I'm not so sure about Rin's English voice, she feels off to me. As for everyone else, they sound perfectly fine in my opinion.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

I've been wanting to watch Legend Of The Galactic Heroes for years. This is incredible news! 100% import from me cause I don't see a UK company putting out 110 episodes of an old cult classic Anime with (more than likely) no dub. I'll be picking up the novels too.

EDIT: I just want to thank NormanicGrav for this topic too! Very informative and easy to read for a simple gal like me :3

I think it's Aniplex thing, they have to hire the most obnoxiously American sounding voice actors possible, and whilst FUNi can just about get the American accents to work, Aniplex really can't.

That Durarara!! dub is genuinely painful, it's like the casting was based entire on character descriptions by somebody who failed to realise the entire show is set very prominently in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and the only direction ever given to the voice actors was "slightly more obnoxious, please"...

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Since Concrete Revolutio is coming to Daisuki, what are the odds that it's going to be another Aniplex of America acquisition (thus making it their second non-Aniplex title)? Both this and God Eater are from Bandai Visual and are pretty much exclusive to Daisuki.
