Huzzaah <3 Nice to see Higurashi rescued :D Shall definitely double dip on the first 2 seasons and I can finally own the OVAS <3

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Tokyopop going after smaller JP titles sounds potentially interesting, the original stuff sounds inevitably terrible.

Wow. There are no other words.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

ANN reports that One Punch Man will be available on Daisuki, however regions are to be confirmed.

Can't say I feel desperately inclined to buy it, but I think it's nice that someone is finally taking a punt on LoGH at last.
Blasphemy! It's required purchasing material by everybody and failure to do so is punishable by death!

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

I must say that LoGH looks interesting but it seems very long and I'm not sure how well it would have aged seeing how it's fairly old.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Hmm missed Prof's comment there. qaiz is right, definitely bad form if you don't purchase.

If you want LoGH to last, we'll all have to support the first three volumes of the novels in 2016 if we want them to finish translating the 10 volume series. Viz Media is known for dropping titles.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

tbh I think the novel series will die over here unless they manage to get it into more general SF channels. I'm more hopeful for the anime.

Kindle version? ^^;

Not sure when the Kindle version will be, they're generally earlier than the print version. March is when the print version is out.

And speaking of LoGH, isn't the license pretty expensive? If so, then Sentai Filmworks is pretty much broke in terms of licensing everything.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

That was pretty much the ADV approach that lead to their semi-demise back in the day, so no real shocker.

If Viz can clear the rights. A disappointing amount of manga is print only, though I find it quite frankly insane that Viz can clear certain titles for a weekly "digital magazine", but can't clear ebook releases of the individual volumes. It's basically the exact same thing...

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Over the moon for Higurashi, been umming and ahhing over the Aus sets for a while but couldn't get over their huge certification logos, or the high price.

Reminder: Aniplex of America panel starts soon - 12:15am to 1:15am

There is always a possibility of a special announcement.

Re: Anime Expo 2015 News Thread

Uh oh:
San Francisco, CA, July 2, 2015 – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), the largest publisher, distributor and licensor of manga and anime in North America, has teamed with VIZ Media Europe S.A.R.L. (VME), the leader in Japanese Entertainment content in Europe, and Anime Consortium Japan Inc. (ACJ), the Japanese company for official anime streaming, to jointly announce the acquisition of the multi-territory media distribution rights for the anime series, ONE-PUNCH MAN.

Announced earlier this year, the ONE-PUNCH MAN anime is based on a bestselling manga series, created by writer ONE and artist Yusuke Murata, about an average-guy-turned-superhero who packs quite the punch! Three content distribution companies will join force to manage the digital distribution, home media, merchandise, and TV rights to the newly produced anime series for their respective territories.

· VIZ Media will manage the master license for ONE-PUNCH MAN in North America, Latin America and Oceania, as well as stream the series in the U.S.
· VIZ Media Europe will oversee & stream the property for EMEA, including Russia
· In addition, ACJ will stream the subtitled version of the program in all above territories

And the reason I say that is because Animax UK handles Viz Media Europe titles. Oh good ******* lord.

ACJ means Daisuki, if I've read that correctly Daisuki will also be streaming One-Punch Man in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia, North America and Oceania. Unless of course they mean ACJ has the rights to all territories that aren't handled by Viz Media and Viz Media Europe. (In which case, they should perhaps actually write that...)
