There's a Schoolgirl Milky Crisis in the UK

<strong><em>Schoolgirl Milky Crisis</em></strong> isn't hentai. It's actually the title of <strong><em>Jonathan Clements</em></strong>' forthcoming book, which collects his opinions and anecdotes on the anime and manga industries in the UK, the US and Japan. In order to give prospective readers...

UK anime distributor Pinnacle Vision is in administration

Even worse is that this has happened at Christmas. I would have thought that around December would be boom time for anyone involved with/connected to retail. I suppose this has been brewing for while?

UK anime distributor Pinnacle Vision is in administration

Earlier in December, UK DVD distributor <em>Pinnacle Vision</em> <a href="http://pinnacle-vision.co.uk/">fell into</a> administration. They were the DVD distributor for, amongst many others, anime publishers <em><a href="http://pinnacle-vision.co.uk/labels/label_info.php?Label=B179">Beez</a>...

Howl's Moving Castle on BBC2 in December; Ghibli anime on TV

In what is fast becoming an annual tradition during the festive month of December, three of anime films from <strong><em>Studio Ghibli</em></strong> will be appearing on UK TV over the coming weeks. Although not nearly as much is airing as in previous years, the <em>Ghilbi</em>-related TV...

    Critical Error

I've started looking into it. I'll probably have to raise a support ticket with our hosting company and take it from there. Seems to be a problem with the MySQL server, as it's not only effecting the forums, but the main site and everything else hosted on AUKN.

    Paul....the man of mystery

I started AUKN in February 2004 as a university student and spent those first couple of years working really hard on the site instead of revising for exams and stuff, but since then, my free time has dwindled (fulltime job, etc), which is why I'm more of a minimal presence on the forums these...

Finally! Important announcement: New admin & moderators

OK, everyone. Following recent events, I felt it was an apt time to expand the admin and moderation team on AUKN. Last night I posted an appeal to those interested in helping out and since then I've had a great response from many of you guys, so, firstly, thanks for caring enough to want to get...

First flaming, then trolling and insults?

Right, as things are getting needlessly insulting, I'll be closing this thread now.

First flaming, then trolling and insults?

The wheels are in motion. The iron fist of communism will soon tighten its grip on AUKN. Beginning of a bright new era.

First flaming, then trolling and insults?

OK guys, I think the truth is we've probably just hit a brick wall with the argumentative nature of this community, and this, combined with my lack of free time, isn't really what I want to see happening. I couldn't really care less about the number of posts, but I'm finding myself turned off of...

    Critical Error

The error suggests that there was a problem with the MySQL database. Don't worry, it's probably a server thing, which means the people I'm renting hosting from will fix it. If it keeps happening i.e. if it's still an issue this time next week, I'll start to properly investigate.

Revelation Films announce their Q1 2009 UK anime releases

Earlier this year, <strong><em>Revelation Films</em></strong> <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/news/1741/revelation-films-delay-releases-until-2009">postponed their entire 2008 release schedule</a> to "concentrate" on their existing releases. This mean't that, amongst many others, the last...

Manga Ent. license 11 new Funimation anime series for UK

I'm not sure if what Conan-san is saying is true or not, but regardless, I don't think One Piece is a particularly enticing prospect for the UK anime publishers right now. It's bound to be expensive to license, given it's huge popularity in Japan, but its relative lack of exposure over here and...

Manga Ent. license 11 new Funimation anime series for UK

    Following on from <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/news/1740/manga-ent-uk-strike-deal-with-funimation-for-5-anime-series">August's news</a>,<strong><em> Manga Entertainment UK</em></strong> and North America's <em><strong>Funimation </strong></em>have officially announced an&nbsp; exclusive...

We Are (On The Cruise)... Again

The song sounds really weird, like a MIDI/dance remix. And in the last half, its notable how One Piece has such a huge cast of crazy pirates and marines! I wish more time was spent with the likes of Shanks, White Beard and Ace.

Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie clips, DVD on 13th Oct.

Utena is one of these series/franchises that has almost completely passed me by over the years. I'm definitely interested in seeing it at some point, but would you say that I could watch this movie without having seen the series? I know it's a loose re-telling of the same story, but I still...

Autumn 2008 anime season: impressions thread

We can use this thread to report our thoughts on the various new anime series starting in Japan soon. Personally, there's a few new shows I'm really looking forward to. Kurozuka, Casshern Sins, Michiko to Hatchin, One Outs and Tytania are the ones I'm really itching to see, but there are always...
