Paul....the man of mystery

Okay i've been wondering this for a while now...

You're an omnipresent Admin that cloaks himself in the shadows, overseeing the forum, reading our posts and learning things about members (intentionally or not you must know about us, what we talk about from time to time, our personalities...no matter how vague that must be and our mannerisms to other members) and that you stand up once in a blue moon and keeps the forum informed of upcoming events, titles and anything else you feel we need to know. but Who are you?

What's your favourite anime?
How did you "get into" anime?
Favourite manga and why?
Favourite food and pet hates?
What do you do in your spare time?
What music do you like?

Rui talks to the members and we know somethings about her....through that we voted for her for admin. in a phrase i'd like to "break the ice" so members know abit more about you, the veterans of the forum who've been around since the forum began probably know some of the things above about you anyway....but to benefit the ones who have only been around a year or so. and to those who are just guests and may become members in the future, can you please answer those questions.

:)

Go onto MAL. Look at his top anime and manga. Look what he's watched/read. Read his profile. The end.

He's one of the few people on here who have watched a decent amount of anime - around 350 titles. He even puts me to shame.

I'm sure he's a bit boring in real life, though. I mean, who the hell uses their real name on a forum!?

I started AUKN in February 2004 as a university student and spent those first couple of years working really hard on the site instead of revising for exams and stuff, but since then, my free time has dwindled (fulltime job, etc), which is why I'm more of a minimal presence on the forums these days. Anyway, I'm still trying to find the perfect balance between working on AUKN, watching anime and other things.

So, after reading this thread, I went and looked up the site at Archive.org:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.animeuknews.net

Some fairly nostalgic stuff at that URL, really. 2005 was my favourite year; we had a really tight group of friends on the forum and all of us seemed imbued with genuine sense of optimism, believing that anime was about to break through into the UK mainstream. It's hard to explain, really, and this might just be me, but back then, it was an exciting time to be a part of the site. Compared with now, the community was a lot smaller (only 134 registered users in April of 2005), but the place had a spirit and enthusiasm that's extremely rare and perhaps can only be captured between a limited number of people. Of course, I'm just as proud of things as they are now and I still love working on AUKN. It's just the way emotion matures over the years, I guess.

Anyway, I do write an anime blog where you can keep up with me. In particular, the below post, which is basically a biography of my 'life' as an anime fan, may interest you, Tachi:

Also, I'm on MAL:

Thankyou Paul :)

I ain't befriending anyone who'd do something as nasty as kicking and banning me from the AUKN MAL club. That's just not on.
