Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody
Turned out to be a decent watch.
Nothing too original.

No Longer Allowed in Another World
Oddly motivated main character.
Fun mix of action and comedy.
I really liked this.

Twilight of the Warriors Walled In
I'll be honest, I got a bit bored.

Mr Inbetween S2
Fast forward over the relationship part.
Hitman parts good.

Ranma 1/2 (2024) ep1-2

Okay, I will admit I was all ready to put the boot into this one, everything I’d seen of it in the promo material turned me right off and I don’t think this remake needs to exist, but would begrudgingly concede that it’s good enough in its own right. It’s not Mappa’s finest hour; I feel it needed another pass in post-processing or something to get over that clinical digipaint look and I think the faded colours do it no favours. More original flourishes are creeping into the animation as it goes on, however, and I can appreciate that there is good work here, even if it feels derivative of what David Pro were doing with Urusei Yatsura.

Maybe if you want to watch Ranma and really can’t get on with the feel of 80s animation, this is the show for you, but I can’t imagine there being a lot of overlap in that Venn diagram.

Dan Da Dan ep6

Dragonball ep1-2

I think it’s a paddling offence in 23 states, but I’ve actually never seen the original Dragonball, so this was an interesting experience. With its fart gags and ‘girls are icky oh no’ schtick, It’s clearly aimed at a younger audience than Z was, but the tone feels wackier in a way that reminds me of Looney Tunes, and I kind of appreciate that. I do also prefer the little squashy character designs over Z’s musclebound shouty men.

How long I’ll stick with it, I’m not sure, I tend not to have great patience for shonen battle shows, but thus far, I quite like it.

For me it's partly working on the assumption that this new adaptation will be a bit shorter, with less filler? Plus I don't dislike the OG Ranma 1/2 anime, but it was getting repetitive even by the end of the first season (the Japanese VAs are so funny though tbf) :)

Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san eps 31-43 (end). Awesome anime adaption of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's classic manga,i would also love to see the live action tv drama series which ran for two series (Princess Comet: Yumiko Kokonoe-series 1,1967-68,Princess Comet: Kumiko Ohba-series 2,1978-79)

(non anime)
Black Sun (1964)-Koreyoshi Kurahara's excellent jazz infused culture clash movie about a young jazz obsessed japanese drifter called Akira and a black american soldier called Gill who with the help of Akira goes on the run after the shooting of one of his colleagues, with two main characters who are polar opposites and with culture and language barriers getting in the way they slowly form a bond as the movie progresses.A fast paced and highly enjoyable movie with an awesome musical score from japanese composer Toshiro Maguzumi and the legendary american jazz drummer Max Roach.

Entirely fair, it feels like I keep being unnecessarily rude about the new one for some reason. I’m not familiar with the manga outwith the first few volumes, so I wouldn’t have known how the original compared in terms of filler, but someone did say there’d be less Happosai in the new series and I’ll take that as a win.

Some Poirot anime.
The ABC Murders
The Mystery of the Egyptian Tomb.
Both were multi parters.

I borrowed my Dad's copy of Sergeant Cork and watched the first 2 episodes.
It's a 1960s Victorian Cop show and rather amusing.
Sadly no restoring on the print but hey ho.
