Oshi No Ko ep 11
Stage presence.
I enjoyed a lot of this, the look at the darker side of the Japanese entertainment industry and the characters especially, but I can't help but feel there's a bit of a disconnect between the Prologue and the rest of the show. It's like the author (author only for this manga) was setting up another comedy series (he did Kaguya-sama) with the 2 idol otaku reincarnated as the children of an up and coming Idol and doing a "Look Who's Talking" style thing, but then during research discovered what a cess pool the industry can be and as he expanded that to other areas realised they also had shady goings on and thus switched tack and came up with the murder mystery. Equally you could say it was all planned so Ruby and Aqua especially had a) a connection with the audience and b) even more motivation than your usual kid of a murdered parent! But you could have just introduced them at the start with a brief overview and got on with it, although I do think Aqua's aloofness needed that introduction as starting with him as a teenager without the reincarnation and seeing his youth he definitely would have been more disliked, I think, despite his kind acts. So I'm torn on that aspect.
The only other gripe is the slowness of the murder investigation as it only inched forward, by just an inch or maybe 2, over the course of the season.
Also yet another show without much of an ending, indeed the second half of the final episode set up the next arc rather than ending at the end of the previous arc. I did enjoy it though, so I'm looking forward to Season 2.
Art and animation were great. Doga Kobo are another studio that always looks good visually.

KamiKatsu

The nature of things.

World Dai Star ep 12 (complete)
2 become 1.
A pretty entertaining show about actresses striving to become Dai Stars and ultimately World Dai Stars at an all female theatre company. So it was a bit like Kageki Shoujo, but more in an idol show way with each performance having a musical number, even if the original version of the play had songs or not. There was also a slight supernatural tinge. Some of the performances were really good, especially in the last episode.
I liked most of the cast, the one exception mellowed from her initial spiky persona, but was still my least favourite.
Art and animation were very good, again. I think they did the CG/idol show thing with musical numbers, but was hard to tell.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! (English Dub) Episode 11

Ooku: The Inner Chambers ep1

A period-piece positing an alternative 18th-century Japan in which an epidemic has decimated the male population, leading to a matriarchal society lead by a female shogun, this didn’t really do anything I wasn’t expecting, but it was perfectly engaging. It absolutely lights up once we’re introduced to Yoshimune, a headstrong and practical woman who goes from unlikely candidate to ascendant shogun after the sudden death of her predecessor, but she doesn’t enter the story until well into this feature-length first episode, so I don’t feel like I’ve got the real measure of the series as yet. I am told it’s very faithful to the source manga though.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles episode 12 Tremble. (Complete. A fun watch, I’ll be watching the next season in 2024.) 3.5/5

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card (Rewatch)
episodes 20-22 (Complete. A good revisit for this continuation of the series - looking forward to the next.) 4/5

It is, indeed (as a massive Fumi Yoshinaga fan I can confirm this) ;)! I loved the first feature-length episode and feel it's really captured the original manga in ways that the live action drama couldn't, being a different medium and all that. I'm pacing myself by not watching it all at once so I'm hoping it continues to stay as faithful to the original manga as this. (Not sure about the score at the moment, though.) This episode animate the whole of the first volume of the manga (as there are 19 volumes in all, we're not going to progress very far in these 10 episodes!) I hope you'll feel intrigued and entertained enough to keep watching...

Ooo, I love period Japanese anime, so I definitely want to check out Ooku. But godammit, I see it's a dang Netflix title, so that means we'll never see a Blu-ray release of this series in my lifetime. I'm still waiting a lifetime for a Blu-ray release of Children of the Whales that aired on Netflix about 4-5 years ago, but that will never happen.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World ep 12 (complete)
Best of rivals.
Had it's fun moments, but others have noted not as good as the original series.
Art and animation hold up to the main series though.

Golden Kamuy

Realisation.
I felt this season was both treading water and rushed at the same time. Obviously it didn't help with the 6 month delay halfway through either. Hopefully the next, and last apparently, season gets enough time to do the story justice.
Art and animation were the same as always.

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999
ep 13 (complete)
A tale of 2 confessions.
This had some funny moments, but the romance aspect moved at a glacial pace. I would say at tectonic pace, but at least you get earthquakes or volcanoes with that! The only character that really stood out was Akane, the rest of the main cast were either annoying or boring (apart from, Momo, who is more of a side character).
Art and animation were fine. Probably a bit too much text on the screen at once on a number of occasion.

Mashle
ep 12 (complete)
Truth mirrored.
A fun shounen romp which is like a mash-up of One Punch Man x Harry Potter. Nothing too deep about it and none of the characters are particularly stand out, but I'll continue next season.
Art and animation were OK.

Hell's Paradise
ep 13 (complete)
Qi point.
This started off as very interesting, but maybe tailed off a little. I think maybe too many characters survived the initial thinning of the crowd. The bad guys probably went down too easy at the end, but the power creep of our main cast seemed a bit more natural than other shounen shows as they learned from experience rather than failing and then have a training arc. Again the ending isn't an ending, but was a bit more satisfying than others this season. Another one with a second season announced.
The art and animation were very good and the designs of the characters and the monsters especially were cool/creepy.

Right Spring ain't over, but Summer is already here!

Horimiya: Missing Pieces ep 1
This is a collection of events cut from the series original run. I believe Non Non Biyori did the same, but unlike that there was an actual plot to Horimiya so it'll be hard sometimes to work out where they are in there relationship although the events in the first episode are easy enough. School trip and Pool day. The second one hardly involved Hori, so I can see why it was cut.

My Tiny Senpai ep 1
Seems like My Senpai is Annoying except the roles are reversed with the short OL being the senpai rather than the kohai. In terms of character design she's more Uzaki-chan than Igarashi-san. Also seems like it'll be a little more risqué in the comedy department.

Keijo episodes 1 - 12
A very silly fan service heavy series, but a nice story underneath
Congratulations, I'm so proud of you.
Thought I was the only one in the Keijo club. It was one I was happy to spend £40 plus on even though I only had a DVD player at the time (Blu-ray/DVD combo)
I can't wait until they get it into the Olympics. Although Tokyo would have been the perfect opportunity, so I might remain disappointed. A live action would be a nice consolation.
Hitomi Tanaka as the lead. She should have been Vice-President Meiko.
