As for the reveal, I got that episode 1! I mean I also looked it up to be sure, especially after finding out how young her VA was. I know using female VAs is a thing for young boys, but Rio Suzuki is only 13/14 so I guess they are going for authenticity, although I think Dororo is younger.
All caught up, pretty much. You can tell I had the day off! Just one episode of Karakuri Circus left and I've put Boogiepop on hold till the end of the season.

...okay, more than a week behind now, sorta. This episode had a lot of great animation moments and some really good expressions, but the jokes didn't do a huge amount for me. Comparatively - it's still very good.

Kino’s Journey -the beautiful world- The animated series episodes 10-12 (Complete. It was interesting to see how this adaptation of Kino differed from the previous 2003 iteration. I did find myself preferring the original over this, as though Kino 2017 is a decent anime, it doesn’t quite have the atmosphere and bleak charm of 2003.
Some of the stories also felt a bit too on the nose with their themes where 2003 allowed for more interpretation and build-up. I also wasn’t as big of a fan of the Shizu/Riki/Ti focused segments for the most part. Despite these flaws, Kino 2017 is still a solid iteration, even if I do miss the scanlines and preferred the old artstyle.) 3.5/5

Honestly, it feels like the series reached its climax at episode 9. I understand why it's continuing on, but it doesn't feel like there's an awful lot at stake anymore. There is more I could say, but I'll hang on until I've finished it.

The film started a bit rough but once it slows its pace it was really investing to watch, the second half can get under your skin due to the fact that World War II's final moments were mainly focused on Japan not surrendering until the bombs happened. It's basically a tone shift from a simple slice of life to some really serious and quite depressing moments that reminded me of Grave of the Fireflies at times. Animation was well done and the characters were great too.
