The Cat Returns (Film) A fun and breezy adventure film with good characters and great comedy. This is honestly one of the best Ghibli films I've watched so far. It was also nice to see some different character designs. 4/5
Yes, yes, and yes! Couldn't agree more with this. :D

It's an ongoing mystery to me why this film isn't much more highly regarded.

Also, made a start on...
Kiss Him, Not Me (ep 1)
... at the recommendation of a workmate. :)

I think a major part of that is actually that the characters are in no way exciting to me. Even with the fact I'm getting to know them pretty well through exposition, neither Yang nor Reinhard ever act in any way that elicits much in the way of an emotional reaction from me, so it's hard to connect with them. Lex Luthor is currently my favourite character, because at least I'm intrigued to see what his schemes are really all about. Also the fighter pilots, who I've seen in I think two short scenes since the beginning of the show. At least they feel like they have personalities.

That sounds very similar to my experience of the show. As time went on, I felt like I cared infinitely less about Yang and Reinhard than the temporary characters who'd pop up in the one-off episodes. It's a series with a lot of wonderfully observed little moments, but I just find the main thrust of it so very dry.

Manga Force Collection:
Read or Die OVA eps 1-3 (complete)
A fun action show with likeable characters, interesting story (although some bits weren't explained) and a great soundtrack.
8/10

(Cheat entry) Persona 4: The Animation (Rewatch) episodes 10-25 (Complete. Still as funny as the first time, and is a fairly faithful adaptation of the game, cutting some stuff but keeping the overall story interesting. It also improves some aspects such as condensing each of the dungeons into fun battles- in the game they're repetitive and grindy. If there was a flaw I noticed it was that sometimes the character models were off, but overall it was still a great series.) 4/5

Poo. 4/10. I only finished it so I could stick it on MAL (which I seem to be updating now) and then it went down anyway.
Blue Exorcist Season 2 (complete)
Fun, and very much along the same lines as the first one.
Steins;Gate 0 (episode 8)
This episode felt much more like the first season which was nice.
Saekano Season 2 (complete)
The first season had a decent enough plot (honest) and was very character-driven, whereas this was just fan-service. Its like, you sort of got the idea that it was gonna go down that route when the OVA for season one had them in a hot springs. They seem to do it a lot though - once they set the scene in the first part, they move on to the fan-service in the second. I suppose it sells and lets them run off more merchandise. They did it with the second part of Gate - the season started off well enough, then the opening scene of the second cour starts with the baddie raping a bunny girl so given there's definitely a pattern I suppose they think its a good idea. Still enjoyed Saekano but a lot of it felt unnecessary.

tokyo ghoul:RE 9 - Shu wars episode 5 - the homo - eroticism strikes back
My Hero Academia 46 - didn't really get Ida's speech there since my brother came in and ruined it, but I can't wait to see Bakugo blow the villian's hideout a new back door
Hinamatsuri 1-2 - very much my kind of slice of life show, I reckon I'll keep watching this one. there's just something about Anzu's intro though...
clothes, boots, motorcycle. in that order

and with that I'll be catching up on Steins
Edit:
wait, whose chopping onions? I need that Upa pillow!
