This was especially obvious in episode 7, where it would even cut between characters in the same scene and one would look like grainy hand-painted cels and the other would look like they were perfectly digitally painted. I'd have put it down to weird use of DNR, if the linework on the newer looking animation wasn't actually clearer than the old looking stuff.

Had hoped someone else might have volunteered a more accurate explanation, but I think it was the case that, when the series was remastered for one of the Japanese releases, some of the original materials were either missing or degraded to the point where a number of scenes had to be reanimated.

That makes sense I suppose. Would have been nice if they'd have maybe tried to make it a little less obvious by say, graining the new stuff up and desaturating the colours a bit though.

Soul Eater episodes 31-38 (Complete. The remaining 13 episodes were filler/anime only so were pointless to rewatch. This is a fun series that really deserves its last arcs to be properly adapted, retconning the anime only ending ala Blue Exorcist.) 4/5

Tales from Earthsea (Film) A decent fantasy film that leaves a few questions and has some great elements let down by a lacklustre climax. The English cast has some greats such as Timothy Dalton and Wilem Dafoe who add some weight to their performances but overall this was just alright, and I wish it was stronger. I seem to have liked this more than some at least. 3.5/5

Amanchu! Advance episode 8 Another fantasy-orientated episode. Wonder how many more of these they'll do? There's only four episodes left and the season overall hasn't been as strong as the first because of these diversions. I prefer the SoDL aspects.

Darling in the FranXX episode 19 A much needed exposition dump. Very intriguing and offered some backstory and depth to the narrative.

Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2nd Season 2nd Cour episode 21 More supernatural fun in hell with a crazy but cute rabbit.

My Hero Academia 3rd Season episode 46 Those disguises though. Some nice conflict and development here.

Persona 5 The Animation episode 8 Another boss down and some more group bonding. I've been enjoying the pre/post battle stuff more than the actual fights.
