Red Baron - Episodes 48 & 49 [Final]

The final episode was a bit by the numbers but it had a great final action scene and brought the series to a tidy close inline with the general themes of the series. I've really enjoyed Red Baron, the robots fighting premise is very basic and it's quite a simple story but it's very well done and looks nice throughout (and had very little use of stock footage which surprised me).

Galactic Patrol Lensman - Episodes 1 - 3

This remarkable fansub project was completed recently and I had to jump straight onto it. I was quite a fan of the original movie and this retells the story in a TV format. So far its pretty good, a solid sc-fi action show.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai episodes 39-46 (Complete. Overall, I’d say there were elements of this I enjoyed more than the other DQ anime, and some I enjoyed less. Onto the recent 2020 anime.) 3/5

Girls Bravo complete season 2: Any semblance of a storyline has been abandoned in favour of individual episodes based on breast exposure. Big action packed finale petered out to nothing in the end. Entertaining in a very superficial way.

Frieren episodes 1-12: fascinating story focusing on the joys and perils of a long life, while all around you shuffle on and off the stage of life. Loved the muted background palette and the introspective stories.

Other, non-anime, stuff. Including the first of the Yokai Monsters movies, which they claim in the attached documentary is the basis for all anime.

It's been a while since I watched the 1st season so I didn't get bothered by the changes. Lots of fun with the overpowered MC. The best character is the ever cheerful Akane. And not just because she provided some panty shots.
Must be nice to be positive all the time.

I prefer Poirot but as usual, animate something I'm not keen on and hire Japanese voice actors and it's all good.
I actually liked Maybelle and Oliver.
It was nice that London restaurants allow a duck to eat. He also found that knife before the police.

I watched this again with a friend over the weekend, I'm still blown away by how spectacular the final scene looks in 4k.

Liz and the Blue Bird

Digging into some of Naoko Yamada's back catalogue after watching The Colors Within. I'll admit 30 minutes into the film I was wondering where the plot was going but it all made sense with how the final 60 minutes played out, it's a very subtle but well portrayed look at how friendships develop, often with a slight tinge of toxicity, at senior school.

...and it's happened much sooner than I expected (and without the need for a kickstarter) with an announcement along with a lot of other really interesting old shows in the AnimEigo townhall last night.
