here we go an example that anime has more freedom then cartoons compare hellsing OVAs with any cartoon.......................
Bad example, anime is more free creatively, there's pleanty of stuff no western company would animate.

Better examples;
Kare Kano, the Oliver Postgate tribute ep, the wax crayon ep and the spectacularly unfinished final eps.
Bakemonogatari, camera angles, the architecture, on screen text, huge amounts of just talking, whole 2-3 minute long scenes being spliced out of 3 panning frames...
*insert Makoto Shinkai OVA/ONA here*, scenerey porn is an anime thing,.

ok fine i ment that most of them but some of them are good.............. i have a asparagus syndrome and i get confused sometimes of what i say

If you mean "asperger's syndome" I too have that. We seem to have a lot in common.

Otaku, I see the pun side, but maybe from the receiving side it might be taken as an insult (come on, your what? late 20's/ 30's)

As for south park, when i was 8 yeah it was funny. now i see it and think "what the hell is that doing on tv?" its boring and a waste of my time, family guy star wars was good fun imo.

as for why i like anime? well everything regarding the ways it can deliver a story, blah blah blah its already been said,

but imo i watch anime because i enjoy it. thats the main reason for me, if i see a storyline twist or take me on a journey where you actually have to add thought to it (kino's journey again) then i enjoy it, can relate to it in some instances and its normally more bearable for me too, i really hate it when i'm watching a program and the next thing i see is the CG THING come into the scene or whatever. Worst thing for this was 2012 because the CG animation just annoyed me. in anime the backgrounds can be beautiful, the characters designs can be flawless, it all looks the same, and when CG is involved in anime, its more believable to relate to (just watch appleseed ex machina)

Anyway, might be getting back into anime soon, the expo's manage to drag me back into anime atleast. (otherwise i start up gits again lol)

Yup, that's why the creators are about to sweep the Tony awards. (Or at least have loadsa nods. They know how to write!)

Your probably right in terms of mainstream serialized TV shows, but there are a lot western feature length animations that do all of the above and easily have as much creative freedom as any Japanese one. There is some great experimental animation from the west as well.

South Park = satire on double standards for depictions of sex, violence, racism etc. on American TV..By two of the kids who survived the Columbine Masacre.

I don't recall them surviving Columbine. I know one of the creators was interviewed in the film Bowling for Columbine.

Yeah it satirizies that (for example, 'It hits the fan'), but my description of the show would be:

It takes a real life thing, and exaggerates it for satirical purposes.

It makes a good point, though, which is why I like it. Except more recent episodes run it into the ground.

They're definatly local, might just been a we knew people who were at Columbine Been a while since I watched it. It's certainly in Matt Stone's hometown.

I think that was it, yes. I haven't watched the film in a while either, truth be told.

I'd just call it a satire, for the most part. It's also a pretty character-driven show. Trey and Matt have focused on different characters over the years, and they do retain some sort of memory episode to episode. The early show was indeed more heavy on silliness and just being disgusting, and that's certainly apart of it, but it also likes to make a point. The town also works as a great microcosm to explore things to the nth degree. There's some real awful stuff, but there's some amazing episodes too.

(Or sometimes they just like telling some amazing stories, like the 'Coon And Friends three/four-parter from the last season).

There really is some poor stuff in South Park sometimes though.
For example that whole Pokemon episode, wow that was bad. I mean there's satire and exageration but that one was surely border line racist.

Why i love anime:-

i had just spent the past three years at uni being repeatedly hammered on the head about the fundamentals of filmmaking (yep, i did media studies)

buy the end of it i felt a little bored with film almost as if the magic had gone and all i could see was actors, props and camera movements

when i discovered anime properly via Spirited Away it kind of felt like i had discovered a whole new medium that allowed for mature storytelling and deep plotlines that in some cases could span entire series. i also loved how infused with Japanese culture each show seemed and how in a way it felt as if i was learning a whole new culture and way of life just by watching these shows

since getting into anime i have found shows that serve every taste or mood im in whether i want to laugh, cry or be engrossed in some balls to the wall action.

for the first time in many years i feel like i can watch something again and be wrapped up in the story rather than picking apart everything like i find myself doing with film
