I started reading the novel version of Subete ga F ni Naru, and the LNs for 35 Shoutai. Whilst the former is basically the usual case of the differences between a book and an anime, 35 Shoutai is much more clearly quite dark in tone - something definitely suggested in the anime, but not quite brought to the fore.
