What Games Are You Playing?

I've been playing Uncharted 1 on PS4. I love the story, the characters and the setting to an extent, but I absolutely hate the combat. The awful cover based shooting, the bullet sponge enemies, the awful aiming, magnet grenades, the borderline useless 99% of the time melee combat - what makes things worse is that the game is pretty much a long corridor with drawn out combat sections every two seconds. If it wasn't for the fact that I've played a chunk of Uncharted 2 on PS3 and know that things will get better, then I'd probably have long since dropped the series already. The ending of UC1 can't come any sooner, and I'll be glad to see the back of this game.

So I made veteran rank in ESO. I think I've been playing too much though. I saw someones bag on the floor IRL the other day and my first thought was oooh better check that for materials... I went past an antiques shop that had a chest and got excited that it might have some good stuff in it. I'm actually getting a bit concerned I'm going to do something like the above but actually start following through on it and not realise until it's too late.

Anyone else find game-logic creeping into IRL situations? It's weird.

So I decided to give The Witcher 3 another go, and it has FINALLY got it's claws in me. I've tried playing this 5 times and each time I just kinda stopped, dunno why as I was enjoying it, maybe time or something, but NOW it's all I wanna do lol just met up with the always lovely Triss Merigold. I just love exploring the world, there's always something to find, always getting lost in the world from just going "Oh whats that over there?", characters are great...combat is still complete ass but ahwel, nothings perfect lol I also struggle with making decisions, like I am constantly 2nd guessing what I choose to do when given a choice and think about what might have happened if I made another choice for ages. Not the games fault it has choices that actually matter in it, in fact it's one of my favourite things about it, just a personal thing.

Yeah I'm about to dive in to my second attempt with The Witcher 3. Hadn't even fought the griffin when I gave up on June, but now I'm ready. This is the sort of game I like playing in autumn/winter anyway, I gave up originally when we had that 31 degree weather. I turned this on, was too hot then turned off and associated being warm and uncomfortable with this game!

Just finished Skylanders Trap Team. Excellent game with some very creative world design and excellent villains. Superchargers will be bought this time next year when I can get it cheap. With my toys to life games, I will start Lego Dimensions closer to Christmas.

I've stopped once Witcher 3 for 2 or 3 months, I guess that was because there was so much to do and no matter how many hours I was losing there doing stuff, it seemed like I was doing nothing at all cause there's so much to do in there. I've finished the game a few weeks ago and I've done almost everything. :)

Now I'm cleaning up stuff in Yakuza 4, doing some trophies and this one is a long one too. Looking forwrd to Yakuza 5 this year (still waiting for a release date) though I'm afraid I might be a bit worn out from doing all the stuff in Yakuza 4, when the 5 gets here xD

In terms of combat, I find that a sign focussed build is very effective. Unless they've patched it recently, damage over time effects seem to do damage relative to the monster's total health so if you have a strong Igni sign and set fire to a large monster it'll take loads of damage while burning. You don't even necessarily need the skill points, high sign intensity seems to be the biggest factor and you can get that with Greater Blue Mutagens (which are fairly easy to get). It even works on high level monsters with the skull symbol, though they're much less likely to burn and won't burn for as long (you'll need a much higher intensity).

I'd imagine you could get similar effects with bleed or poison attacks if you happen to specialise in one of the other two trees, though the Igni option is a fairly simple one. I guess it's kind of a cheap way to fight but there's plenty of fun outside of the combat.

I haven't played The Witcher 3 for a bit because I've been trying to focus on Metal Gear Solid V: TPP when I'm in the mood for playing things (not that I've made much progress recently). The first The Witcher 3 expansion should be out today, so now there's even more of it to finish.

I gave The Witcher an hour yesterday (picked up where I left off) and it's still not for me. Combat is just lacking something. It's simple but not at all enjoyable. I really like the tightness of the game world in The Witcher 2, with each chapter taking place in a smaller self contained area, maybe I'm just done with large open world games. ..Hope not as fallout 4 is due next month. ..

Started Lego Dimensions today. Spent more time building stuff than actually playing but had great fun so far. Nice and light hearted with some good humour.

Still trucking in Rock Band. So glad most of my DLC has been ported over now. Still waiting on Tribute, Red Devil and the Queens of the Stone Age track pack as well as the Rock Band 1 export. Hopefully they turn up soon.

Done more Expert Pro Drums as of late:
- ...And Justice for All - 99% Gold Stars
- Blackened - 98%
- Ride the Lightning - 99% Gold Stars
- Master Exploder - 98% Gold Stars
- Light My Fire - 99% Gold Stars
- Riders on the Storm - 99% Gold Stars

Was going to attempt a couple other songs but I stopped because I broke my streak due to hitting the wrong part of the kit.

Of course I can't handle the more impossible tracks (like the really insane Metal songs) because of my RB3 Stock Kit. If you want to handle the much harder songs in perfection, you need a custom drum kit and a close-to-proper bass pedal (double bass pedal if needed). The Stock Kit has numerous issues including the bass pedal not strong enough to handle fast beats (due to the spring) and the cymbals won't detect fast streaks for some BS reason.

Very jealous you have the Metallica DLC. By the time I got into Rock Band that licensing ship had already sailed. I've played the songs via Phase Shift and the charting is identical but I wish I could have the real thing.

It's unfortunate that I can't get it again for the PlayStation. The license from Guitar Hero should have expired by now given that Aerosmith and Van Halen are free from it. I hope that Harmonix will be able to release some DLC for the service, if anything I would prefer album releases - starting with Master of Puppets (that way folks who missed out on Battery can re-live again, just updated with RB4 charts).

Interestingly enough apparently there was a second Metallica DLC pack planned but got cancelled due to Guitar Hero. The songs chosen were Master of Puppers, Load and Reload.

Witch and the 100th Knight.

At this point i pretty much play it just for the story and trophies. The gameplay just is too shallow and there's really nothing to see in the world. All the "dungeons" could have as well been randomly generated.

Started Tales of Zestria, about 5 hours in and I already love the game <3

Started a replay of Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. Almost near the end of chapter 5, I'm really happy that all the things that I thought happened when playing the Japanese version was right ^_^ poor Seiko though ;_;

Still playing Lego Dimensions. The doctor who level and Portal level are stand outs so far (so much so that I'll likely buy the standalone level packs for both franchises between now and Christmas) Superb stuff.

Classic lego gameplay, but the mishmashing of universes at times is great and the humour is fun as always.

Been playing the Street Fighter V beta again. R.Mika is just downright silly........and I bloody love it. lol The online matches I've been playing have felt really rough connection wise tbh.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

Just beat Murdaw and so far i'm enjoying the game. It does it age time to time but it's still very much playable with occasional peak at walk trough. Hate doing that but **** you have to live up with with old games like this.

Assassins Creed: Unity

As with the skylanders series, I'm usually a year behind with these. Picked up Unity on Sunday, and it's surprisingly decent so far. Paris is exceptionally realised and patches mean the game runs decently now. Main character is ok and the story is interesting so far. Up to sequence 4, i'll likely get bored in a week or so, and toss it to one side when Fallout 4 comes out!

Opinions about halo 5? I've seen most of the campaign played through with my friends (we where taking turns) and it seemed pretty okay. The colours are pretty and it's still pretty standard halo fun. The smart vision thing is actually quite good and functional. Main problem with the story is that you need loads of background knowledge to understand all the characters and stuff. They didn't really go full out with any bosses either although halo normally has pretty ****** bosses anyway.
