What Games Are You Playing?

I also bought Heavensward, though I'm still working through the tail end of the story. My FC buddies aren't quite as crazily eager as me so I've been cajoling all of them to get caught up so we can do it together.

(I'll probably just PUG it and finish tonight though, can't wait any longer.)

Bought Heavensward (kinda sucks that because I play on PS4 and PC, I'm gonna have to buy it twice...), now I have to actually grind all the way to the new content as I never actually finished the story lol should have just resubbed and done the content before buying Heavensward tbh as I apparently have A LOT to do still.....hope finding people for story dungeons isn't gonna be a problem :/

My server is tiny and I've had no trouble doing old content even in the height of the 'early access' chaos; I imagine you'll be fine. The story gets a lot better over time IMO.

Yup we have had plenty of brand new players join our FC today, never mind just people who need to catch up from a point at which they stopped. You'll be fine getting parties for old content for a while yet.

I started Batman: Arkham Knight the other day.

I'm enjoying it, although I find the Batmobile a bit unwieldy and I'm a little concerned that they've put too much emphasis on set-pieces (and the Batmobile in general). The new fear takedowns are flashy but I'm worried they'll unbalance the Combat and Predator sections a bit too much. That said, I'm not at all far into the game and level design was probably one of the main strengths of City and Asylum so it might all work out.

Still, I can't help wishing it was a bit more like The Witcher 3.

Final Fantasy 14 - So I've took my Black Mage to 47 now and can't do the next story quest until 49....I'm now going to have to *shudders* grind fates for 2 levels I think :/ Still as someone who has never really liked any other MMO, I really love this game for some reason. It may be because I love Final Fantasy in general and while FF14s world is all new to me, it's still kinda familiar too.

You should just queue for Dzemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale, and do some FATEs while you are waiting for the queue to pop. That range of levels is pretty brutal on your first character though when you run out of quests.

The same is happening to me, albeit at 57. I have been playing a fair bit of Heavensward since it came out, and it is amazing.

Also played the first couple of hours of Arkham Knight (incredibly well presented, looking forward to playing it more once I'm up to date with FFXIV), and Fire Emblem if (up to the point where the story branches. It's kinda cool).

Yeah that's probably a better option actually, especially considering queue times are so damn low just now, like almost instant which is a world away from what I was used to when I first played, I can only assume it's all the people leveling Dark Knight just now. I've been informed I missed a few quests at The Waking Sands too so they may help.

Don't forget you can do levequests too, those will break up the FATE monotony a lot.

I finally got onto the Heavensward content and it's soooo gooood :D

Yeah it's actually no where near as bad as I thought it would be, just under halfway through 48 at this point doing quests and 1 dungeon run, think the rested exp is helping a lot right enough (I had a lot of it as I didn't log in for a long time), no idea how much extra it gives you but any extra helps.

The Witcher 3 - Really enjoying this so far, had initially planned to wait and play this in Autumn/WInter (I like my big open world RPGs to be played with dark nights ect) but gave in and bought it yesterday.

Danganronpa - Complete! - finished this a couple days ago and it was a fantastic piece of fun. Really enjoyed the setting as wacky as it was. The characters in the game are really well developed too, which makes sense considering the style of it i guess. But it's got so much polish to it, and there is that element of "i probably just scratched the surface here" as well which i love.
Danganronpa 2 - As you'd expect, borrowing this from my girlfriend and working on it as i get the chance. finished chapter 1 and working through the second now. So many mysteries already and a lot of elements i feel tie into the first game, but not sure how yet. Going to keep going forward with it tonight!

I was hoping to be playing Dark Souls 2 on the PS4 by now but apparently it takes the PS4 13 hours to download 14GB...I reckon I could download it over 10 times on my PC in the time it's gonna take on the PS4 for one download. What's even stranger is I'm pretty sure it took about 2 hours to download all of Battlefield 4 and the DLC on my PS4 and that's like 60GB....wish I just bought physical now, eff this digital BS.

Now that rant is out the way, hit 50 on FF14 and finished the main scenario, now I'm um'in and ah'in trying to decide if I should activate my heavensward expansion now so I get the XP from all the stuff from after the main story but before the expansion....don't wanna end up over leveled or anything tho.

Also dipped back into DotA2 because apparently I hate myself.

Okay never mind the PS4 download rant...actually took about an hour in rest mode lol no idea why it said it would take that long, or why it was going so slow earlier.

The PSN was down for a while recently (it said maintenance but I'm not sure if it was scheduled) so that could have affected it. It could also be that it doesn't use the full potential download speed while you're actually using the PS4.

I generally prefer digital because I don't have to get up to switch discs. True story.

It's kind of annoying when digital options are more expensive than physical equivalents though. Presumably they must think it's more profitable and it's likely they'd have a decent idea of that but it does seem strange. I guess maybe there are a lot of people as lazy as me that are also much wealthier.

I've been playing a fair bit of Batman: Arkham Knight recently. I'd say that most of my fears were unfounded, Combat and Predator encounters seem to be pretty decent and the enemies have extra move variety to help balance things out a little (sometimes I even remember to use gadgets). I guess it did take a while for there to be more Combat and Predator stuff but once it gets going it's fine. I do occasionally feel that the combat is slightly less precise than in previous games though, it doesn't feel like the game prioritises suitable targets as much as it used to. I also ran into an issue in two separate Predator encounters where restarting the encounter caused there to be less guys than it started with (which was annoying since I was restarting to aim for a perfect score and ended up with much less exp).

The Batmobile is still kind of terrible though. Any challenge involving driving is a nightmare, especially the ones weighted towards actually being able to drive the thing with some degree of precision. Presumably there's a trick to making it work but I only seem to be able to find new and terrifying ways to make it do something stupid. Aside from using the remote for support (which is kind of cool), it very much pulls me out of "being" Batman (especially considering that there's no way the thing could function on a normal day in Gotham given the danger it would pose to civilians). It also lacks both an Emergency Bat-Turn function and a grapple for making sharp turns, which seems like a strange oversight (unless I just missed the tutorial on those). On the plus side, you don't really need the Batmobile to get around since gliding with the upgraded grapple is brilliant.

The Batmobile combat is okay, at least. I kind of like the "gun-kata" style evading of trajectories but I find it's more of a passable diversion than anything particularly worthwhile.

I just recently discovered that there's a "never seen" bonus for Predator encounters. Now I have to choose between bonus experience or leaving one enemy conscious, disabling his gun and then waiting somewhere for him to spot me before taking him out. Tough choice.

Have you changed the Batmobile "switch to tank mode" controls to toggle rather than hold? This lets you use the trigger for braking rather than pressing Square. Don't know if this is the kind of problem you're having, but a lot of people seem to vastly prefer controlling the car once they're changed this.

Just finished my first playthrough of Her Story. This was absolutely captivating. I loved that it was up to the player to put things together, meaning that each person who plays this game will have a completely different experience. I also think Viva Seifert gave an incredible performance in the central role. It was quite mesmerising and I was hanging on her every word. Highly recommended!

Max Payne (PC)
"There was nothing I could do. He was dead. I could tell by the empty accusing stare of his eyes."

Even though I started with Max Payne 3, going into Max Payne is a weird change. This is the second time I started the game again as my first playthrough was on the PS2 but only half-way through. Thanks to the Steam sale I bought the first two Max Payne games for £1.99. The first game is great, the story is basic but the gameplay is really fun especially with BULLET TIME! One thing that I found annoying was the final battle, it took me ages to figure out how to win that fight.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (PC)
"I didn't deserve to walk away. There are no happy endings."

I'd argue this is the best Max Payne game in the trilogy. The story has its own twists and turns and the graphics were really good for a 2003 title. The ending was also great especially the Poets of the Fall song. Poor Max, he deserves a break.

And this tune, THIS TUNE. Is just epic. Everytime I pause the game this plays, oh Max.

Professor Layton and The Lost Future - Great story so far, up to chapter 10, probably the best Layton I have played. The game world seems big as well with some good locations and characters. Spectres Call will be up next but will likely take a few weeks off before starting it.

Need to buy a 3DS soon for the last two games in the series.
