Alright, here's what I got for my presents. I just made a list and they pretty much went with it given I'm rather hard to please (I don't mind certain things but if they're outside my hobby zone then you get the point). Now for the bad news - 2 of my items were delayed for different reasons; Twilight Time's Harlock: Space Pirate 3D release was pushed to January so that they can improve on the quality of the release (it's also their first time handling a 3D title so that's understandable), it's going to be better than the UK, Australian and Hong Kong versions anyway. The other delayed item is Vertical's Kizumonogatari which didn't arrive because it sold out at launch here in the UK. No one has any in stock and I doubt I'll be able to receive it until January, which is a shame because it was my most anticipated Christmas item (sadface). Nevertheless, the rest of the items were top notch.
Normal Stuff:
A Geek In Japan
The Walking Dead: Compendium 3
A Geek In Japan was given to me by my sister (alongside a Darth Vader T-Shirt) and I'm very interested in checking it out, gotta know more about the culture you know! It's a couple years old but it should still be valid to today's standards.
The Walking Dead Compendium 3 is finally out and I have it! I started getting into the franchise through Season 2 of the TV series and when I read the comics, I couldn't stop reading! Now I have the Compenium 3 which pretty much covers nearly the rest of the issues released so far (essentially getting everyone up-to-date) ~ Volumes 17-24 [Issues #97-144] aka the Negan arc. This is perfect timing as the TV series is literally close to adapting these volumes and I like to be ahead of the game.
Also noticed the third compendium is rather bigger than the previous ones.
Live-Action Stuff:
John Wick
Mad Max: Fury Road (Blu-ray 3D)
Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends (Steelbook)
Now onto the live-action stuff, generally I don't bother getting these kinds of stuff as I'm too busy prioritising on anime but I couldn't ignore these few.
John Wick I got the chance to see in cinemas as it was given a rather limited release due to the cult popularity it was given in the states. This is a highly recommended film if you like action and it's Keanu Reeves' best role since The Matrix. It's a lot of fun and if you hate Theon Greyjoy, his actor is in the film - well you get the idea what happens hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Mad Max: Fury Road is my film of the year for 2015. Also gotten the chance to see this in cinemas but in IMAX 3D nonetheless! Haven't seen the originals but it stands out on its own. I picked up the 3D version as I thought it was pretty decent in the cinema. The slipcover is cool and it does come with the 2D version.
Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends is a great conclusion to the live-action trilogy, another film I also saw in cinema (Warner Bros' limited theatrical screenings to around 6 Cineworld cinemas, Sheffield was the one I went to). I pre-ordered the first two when they were released as it was a limited edition steelbook but I decided to wait it out as the pricing was rather high for a barebones product. I was told on here that the film was available for £9.99 on Zavvi as I requested it for Xmas. If you haven't seen the trilogy, do it! Also check out the main theme,
it's awesome.
Light Novel/Manga:
Another
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Phantom Blood Volume 3
Since Kizumonogatari was delayed I decided to ask for another novel to keep me entertained. I decided to go with Another as I have always been curious to see how the original was written in contrast to the anime and manga adaptations. It's still in hardcover form which is good!
You were expecting a ****** manga but it was me Dio! I now own the final part of Phantom Blood! Viz Media did a great job handling these releases and I do plan on getting Battle Tendency later on. The JoJo hype is getting real especially with the Diamond is Unbreakable anime hitting April!
Video Games:
The Darkness 2 (Limited Edition) for PlayStation 3
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection (Standard Edition - North American Import) for PlayStation 3
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 (Essentials) for PlayStation 3
Yakuza: Dead Souls for PlayStation 3
Now for the best part.
The Darkness 2 was one of the few I rented from LoveFilm years back for Xbox 360 and I really enjoyed it. It's a shame the game did not sell very well, thus leaving the franchise in a state of limbo. It's different to the first game but the art style has changed to be somewhat reflective to the original comic book. It's very cheap (about £6-7) to buy nowadays so do yourself a favour and pick it up if you have the chance. It's also an easy 100% trophy/achievement game. Heck the Limited Edition version (same price as above) which is still available also includes a fold out poster.
Considering The Phantom Pain is out I wanted to delve deep into the world of Metal Gear Solid. I already own the HD Collection for Xbox 360 and I bought the first game on PSN but I wanted to have everything in one place - and so I choose to get Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection. This version doesn't have the artbook but it does have every single Metal Gear game to existence (minus Game Boy games and Nintendo's exclusive Twin Snakes remake of MGS1) ~ Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid (PSN download), Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions (PSN download), Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD as well as Metal Gear Solid: Bande Dessinee 1 & 2. I'm very hyped for Guns of the Patriots but I'll be starting from Sons of Liberty as I've finished Metal Gear Solid a couple months back.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2.. first of, I still haven't caught up with the series yet I'm afraid that if I start to pickup Volumes 47 onwards individually Viz Media would suddenly announce a third box set. Secondly, as a result of this I have yet to finish Pirate Warriors 1. And so you're probably wondering why I asked this game for Xmas - well it's simple, the game is simply going up in price and is out of print. What's even more problematic is that North America didn't even get a physical release. So yeah, I'm also interested in getting the Fist of the North Star Dynasty Warriors games (Ken's Rage) so let me know what you think of those if you have played them.
And last but not least - Yakuza: Dead Souls. Surprisingly the BBFC logo wasn't on the cover which I guess meant that the game got a second print run. Also known as Ryu ga Gotoku of the Dead in Japan, this instalment is essentially Yakuza with Zombies. The game I've heard is pretty good but suffers from bad technical issues which made reviewers put the score pretty low.
Anime:
Mobile Suit Gundam: Part 1 (w/Collector's Box) Blu-ray
One last present, Mobile Suit Gundam Part 1. This is the first anime in my collection that's really old (1979) and it's also my first Gundam show. I am looking forward to this and I've heard the English dub voices from the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games so I have a good idea on how it rolls out. I think I'll stick with the dub on this one.
And that's it, here's a round up - I apologise for the long post but hey, it's christmas.
